Halo Infinite Customization (Spartan Armor)

I just watched the Multiplayer Overview and I actually have it playing right now as I write this. I love most what what we’ve seen but I’m a little concerned about the Spartan customization.
Yes there are a lot of new things like the Personal AI and the robot arms/legs but what about the individual armor pieces themselves? We know you can change your helmet, helmet attachments, both shoulders, chest and a few other things but what about armor effects or wrist attachments? We’ve seen evidence about some of these things in the multiplayer content shown at E3 and earlier this morning in the Overview but we haven’t seen the options to change these things in the menus. Does this mean we wont get these options at launch? Or have they just not shown us these things yet?
Still I’m excited to see more and get my hands on this game! what do you all think so far?

I believe “millions of customization combinations” was said in the video. We’ll just have to wait and see. Today was just a small glimpse into what the team has been working on.

I’d assume this falls into the “haven’t show us yet” category.

One of my favorite parts of Reach’s customization was customizing what was on my wrist/if I had ammo packs on my thigh or not. Hoping they have that and just haven’t shown us.

I am curious how “Armor Cores” work. It clearly is some sort of base like the Mk. V(B) from Reach or the M. 7, meaning we can’t mix the base pieces. But what about the other pieces? Can I put a Reach shoulder on the MK. 7? Mk. 7 knee pads on the Mk. V(B)? Do the new robot limbs carry to Reach armor or only usable on the new “Core?”

I think 343 has a few things to clarify in that sense. Can everything be mixed and matched, or is everything gated based on the chosen “Core?”

> We know you can change your helmet, helmet attachments, both shoulders, chest and a few other things but what about armor effects or wrist attachments?

You can also customize undersuits and prosthetics for each limb, and they mentioned being able to customize body type as well. I wouldn’t be too worried about customization.

I’m not too worried about customization, and im pretty sure the armor “Cores” work with Mark V due to it being Mark VII and supporting more Mjolnir than before. Atleast “millions of customization cominations” is true to its word

They stated millions of combinations so I assume they are just showing the ones they wanted to showcase and could polish for E3. A lot of these cosmetic pieces usually get polished a month before probably going gold.

I hope you’re right! They’ve already confirmed some of the armor pieces I was concerned we weren’t getting so I bet they’ll be all over it with customization this time around! Thanks for keeping me positive!!

I’m concerned about this too. I don’t want to run into the issue of not being able to pair a Reach helmet and a Halo 4 shoulder.

That said, annoying as it would be, does open the door for expanding the armour core options to perhaps Elites, and maybe one day, Brutes. Would better explain the reason between not being able to mix.
Just a thought.

While I can understand that logic, I don’t think that really works since the Elites and Brutes would have different models and proportions. They can’t really be “Cores” for the human base. If its a clipping issues, they should have just taken the Halo 4 route and made each piece its own thing.

That’s a good point actually. If they did introduce playable Elites/Brutes, they would probably need to do what Reach did and uses dedicated playlists that change everyone to that model, for balancing reasons.
But then you’re splitting the population down across more playlists, which is counter productive I’m terms of getting players into matches.

Halo 4 polarises me in that regard. I appreciate the attempt to stop armour pieces clipping in game, but it came at the cost having way more undersuit visible, compared to the previous games. Some of the shoulders in 4 are literally a thin armband of metal physically touching the suit, and the shoulder pad floats ridiculously in the air. Is it supposed to be armour, or an attachable satellite dish? Haha.

I am talking strictly in the model. Gameplay balancing is a whole other can of worms, but Elites and Brutes couldn’t be swappable cores simply due to their relative size.

As for copying Halo 4, I meant more of having the chest be its own thing instead of swapping out attachments. If I want the Reach Scout body, it’s the Mark.5 with the scout attachment. If I want the Mk.7 ammo pouch body, it’s the MK.7 ammo pouch body. Instead of locking us to a core with attachments (which I assume is the prevent some kind of clipping between old and new armor) let us simply change each piece of armor instead. Granted its not full proof and could have some side effects depending on how it was made (imagine if the bicep armor changed depending on the should chosen, if you want a Reach and MK.7 shoulder, you end up with mismatched biceps)

Its reasons like this I personally wish they just created a new universal base compatible with Reach armor or simple modified the Reach armor to fit. Helmets don’t really require that much work. Idk why they would restrict them.

There is confirmed to be Armour effects and emblems
