Halo Infinite Customization is Pointless

I find it funny that Season 1 is based around Halo Reach and yet the customization is so bad

I remember Halo Reach MP and it’s customization, you can put whatever color and whatever armor to your spartan and truly be unique

Why is Halo Infinite customization so bad? Why is each piece locked to a set? When I got my Tenrai armor, I can’t make it green cause the shader can’t be used with the Tenrai armor.

I just don’t understand why it’s so hard to just allow it be similar like Halo Reach and allow FULL customization?

They seriously need to look into reworking the entire customization in the multiplayer by Season 2 or at least Season 3

Well, when using the waypoint glitch to equip armor on any core, I can tell you that a lot of the coatings don’t seem to recognize parts of the Tenrai helmet properly, so the helmet often gets mostly a solid color. Which I don’t think is what they want. Also, when using Tenrai armor coatings with other core, the small color pieces of armor seem to work kind of oddly on other cores. So I understand to some degree why the coatings aren’t able to work on Tenrai. Coatings seem to have much less issue when mixing between MK V [B] and MK VII though.

Another thing with mixing cores, is there is some bad clipping when you mix items between Tenrai and other cores. But MK VII and MK V [B] seem to the most part to work just fine each other. Given this, and some comments we’ve heard that they’re experimenting with expanding customization, I imagine we’ll see some items allowed cross core. But not all. Though, of course I don’t know anything for sure.

That all being said, I’m not going to defend all of their decisions. It seems based on some info posted to /r/Halo that the battle pass was originally supposed to go to level 120 and contain a lot more of the reach armor. So colors aside, it seems a lot of the reason for the limited customization is money. I don’t really support them gutting armor for a 10 year old game and selling it to use piecemeal. And I don’t appreciate not being able to choose our colors. Some things were definition done for money.

In short, why is customization so limited? Some items have issues working cross core, but otherwise money.

What waypoint glitch?

If the reason we need cores is because they initially designed a bad system, then they should just do this:

Imagine Armor Coating #1 is black and yellow. Then what will exist is:
Armor Coating #1 - Mark VII
Armor Coating #1 - Tenrai
Armor Coating #1 - Mark V

If this coating has niche applications to armor you can just list it under the same identity, while in the system it can be recognized as different. Then when a user unlocks Armor Coating #1 that coating is unlocked for all cores. Designers will have to make multiple versions of a coating to accommodate every core… but that’s 343’s fault.

They really should have done that instead of charge us three times if we wanted the same coating for each core.

I’ll explain by example. Let’s say you have the MK V [B] core equipped and you want to see what the Willow Tea armor coating looks like on it. Open up the waypoint app. Go to customize. Swipe over to MK VII. Select modify (not equip). Then select and get and equip Willow Tea. Now, before you do anything else hit body at the top, and you should see Willow Tea on MK V [B]. You can only test out one item at a time.
