Halo Infinite could have been amazing

I wasn’t sure if i was going to get halo infinite. As time grew close to it’s release and playing a bit of the multiplayer and saw more of the trailer and thought “i"ll give it a chance.”

Like so many of the other Halo’s under 343’s belt it feels like they want you to get the story from other sources rather than just showing us what happens. You either have to listen to audio logs that are not in order or watch holographic replays that don’t fill in all the blanks. It feels like they were trying to restart the story but keep somethings in tact. They even pull story from Halo Wars 2 which never felt like it should have been part of the core story. Also Halo always thrived when it was the UNSC vs. The covenant and master chief was a key player in all of it, rather then this lone warrior who is helping.

Game play wise, Halo Infinite plays well. It feels like what most are familiar with while still adding in enough to feel like a new game. Going back to classic elite and grunt design was a good touch. Then we have the open world aspect. To be honest i was really excited for this. I thought you were doing to help build up a base and get things that were needed to help get you gear you wanted but instead you earn points which unlocks weapons, vehicles, and troops with better guns. It felt sort of hollow. I would have loved it if you came out of the ring and the base was being attacked and they asked for your help. Afterwards they mention they lost some troops and need help finding them. They were setting up a radar or something and when you free them they turn in on and you can see more of the map. Then later when attacking a banished compound you here over the radio that they have parts and equipment to make wart hogs so you should clear the area so they can get the gear. When you head back to base they would have a new section just for the warthogs. This way you feel like your actually helping the UNSC and explains where all this stuff is coming from.

Finally I will say the music is wonderful. I feel it captures what made the C.E., 2, and 3 so great. It’s both old and new and a delight to listen to. Standing, on what i now know is a memorial, and looking out over the world and hearing the halo theme made me just stop and enjoy the moment of pure bliss.

Also my final issue is when you use to buy Halo you bought the Campaign and multiplayer. You knew the money was going to both. With this multiplayer being “free” then the campaign should have been outstanding and yet i felt allot was left on the cutting room floor. Either you’re on the ring, in it, or inside a banished facility and yet it’s misses something. You see all the things that feel you should interact with but never can.

Anyway there is more to talk about but i just wanted to see if i was the only one who felt this way.

Could have been
If they didnt have crossplay
