We all know that a lot of people are fairly angry about the microtransactions situation around the color’s in Halo Infinite, such as the monster energy color scheme. It’s something that 343 is clearly using as a quick cash grab because they know players will buy the colors they want, but along the way, it’s only going to make people upset with the game, and could lead to a another potentially great game being poisoned by excessive use of microtransactions.
One saving grace that could fix all this is to just unlock all the colors for the people who pay the full $60, or are on the game pass thing that XBox has. I don’t mean the armor coating or whatever, but just the colors. The people who are playing the MP for free would still have to buy into the colors and any monster energy type promotion out there. This would be a viable alternative because it lessens the impact from color microtransactions, tempts F2P players to buy the colors they want, and even people who have already bought the full game may want to buy the promotion bundles because they might like the weapon skins too.
This is just one mans opinion though, what’s your opinion on the color microtransactions, do you agree with my idea, and what are your own ideas for solving this problem?

Yes, your idea is most likely going to happen. That’s because mp is f2p so 343 needs to make some money. But those people who will get the campaign will pay 60€, so we will most likely get some free coatings and stuff via challenges, achievments…
There isn’t going to be a traditional colour system. Everyone is going to be using weapon and armour coatings. That’s that.
I don’t think that buying the game should shortcut your unlocks. I’m sure that buying the full game you’ll be able to access achievements and mission rewards that may reward you armour and weapon coatings but having it all unlocked and having nothing left to work for is a bit short sighted.
Infinite having free to play is a way to introduce more players into the Halo franchise. Yes that means they have to make money from microtransactions too because of that.
However wether you’re a free to play player or a paid player a progression & unlock system that is consistent across both types of players needs to exist. What you’re suggesting from my understanding is having paid players have an entirely differently customisation system to those who didn’t pay.

I get where you’re coming from here but like, what are people buying the game getting for their money? just the campaign? There’s gotta be some benefits for actually buying the game

I also understand where you’re coming from. But we do not know what the price is for Halo Infinite. We also need to consider that GamePass exists too. Xbox’s whole strategy isn’t to really have you buy first party games in a traditional sense anymore.

I don’t mind a game with micro transactions for cosmetics but it would be cool that when you purchase infinite that you get an exclusive cosmetic(s). Call of duty warzone modern warfare gives you an exclusive “blue print” (cosmetic) for a gun when you purchase the modern warfare game.

Totally, I’m waiting to see what kind of editions of HI even release. I might consider getting a legendary edition or whatever equivalent if I think I’ll end up enjoying the game, but I want to see what benefits there are to even buying the standard version of the game. Game Pass muddies the water as well, tbh I’m surprised HI is even F2P when they could have pushed it as a game pass thing the entire time

For the most part I agree with ranch, and you also have to take into account that even though its a Microsoft game, they have to take into account PC Players, who most likely aren’t going to buy it with gamepass. Also I’m not entirely sure, but I’m pretty sure you can pre-order halo infinite on amazon for 60 bucks, so it will most likely be a 60 dollar game.
i think that there is only coatings right? [correct me if i’m wrong lol]
also there should be coatings or colors or whatever earned through campaign challenges. since you paid 60 bucks and all.
You want 10 years of game maintenance, server upkeep, and DLC?
Someone has to pay for it.
And no, $60 up front (and even less from Game Pass) is not going to keep it going for long.
So, if some kid can nag their mother into buying them a weird helmet with bits poking out the front… just so I can have a better gaming experience… I am all for it.
And yes, I’m not here for the free ride myself. I will happily buy the bits I feel complement my experience.

I mean I sorta like destiny, but to each their own.

Wait, what?! You would buy the mp that is free? Or would you donate to 343 some money? I think i misunderstood you big time here, lol.

We’re heading into uncharted territory here. Microsoft is putting the farm on Game Pass… and game studios are looking how they can best fit within the new framework… I can see the traditional release of titles going by the wayside.

And I’m with you. I’m still having trouble with having my games as downloads. I like having a physical copy to hold.
Hell, I still miss my DVD collection sitting on the shelf.
