Remove the shop and put all it’s content into BP and events and raise the price a little.
You will have guaranteed season subscribers and still make alot of money. this way you could also have more frequent battlepasses bc all the shop content is in BP and events. you could even remove events and make them shorter Battlepasses thats a little cheaper.
But how would they pay for these lovely servers we have???
They wouldn’t get rid of the shop because its harder to sell a big expensive content drop than it is microtransactions.
Microtransactions make you think “its not much” or “a little bit here and there wont hurt” ideas. Then it hits you like a freight train when you’ve spent more on less as time goes on.
People say microtransactions are predatory for a reason. Especially people that cant control themselves and their wallets.
Nah, all they need to do is add a system like Halo 5 rec points and the content they said they were adding to the game.
Also, follow through with what they said they were going to do with customization.
For some reason, every game designer saw Fortnite and was like, “hold my beer”. I have friends that won’t play other games because they have HUNDREDS of dollars invested in fortnite skins. For a FREE game…
Ignorant executives see this and get sweaty. The old “Well i can do it better routine”. Even though most of them can’t. All these managers see that people don’t mind spending hundreds of dollars on inconsequential aspects like customization rather than pay a one time fee for the actual whole game. Its a petty and putrid mentality that has infected most game designers. . .
Companies love the free game model, because they actually make much more money on microtransactions than they would on the normal purchase price a game would have.
Being free makes the game easily accessible to a larger number of players, and the object is to lure them in, get them hooked, and hope they make in game purchases.
