> In a way I almost feel like they’re releasing the new campaign in episodes. Episode 1 is when the game launches. Episode 2 will be 6 months later when the first campaign DLC drops. Episode 3 will be campaign DLC 6 months after that and so on… At least that’s the vibe I’m getting from them.
I’d be more inclined to assume it’ll be more like Destiny, releasing a new campaign expansion around the same time each year. Especially since a decent-length expansion will take much longer than 6 months to produce.

Destiny had a very troubled launch and were under Activision at the time. As far as their publisher was concerned, multiple games in the franchise > a single game spanning 10 years with updates. They also rebooted the game around 18 months before launch IIRC.
I get the feeling that Infinite will be closer to Hitman than Destiny, in terms of content. Each successive Hitman game incorporates the older ones into its updated engine for free. I’ve said it elsewhere but it’s likely that 343 will follow a simplified version of this where Infinite is the base, and each successive game is incorporated into it.

> They don’t seriously expect us to pay 60 bucks for half a game do they?
People paid 100 bucks for mk11 and still didn’t get all the content that was promised. Don’t put anything past these corporations/devs. Don’t waste your money on the new xbox either until it’s on sale or Halo is finished.
It’s going to cost at least $60, I expect nothing less. They will likely market that the campaign is much more expansive than previous titles, and throw in a hefty amount of whatever the micro transaction currency will be for players to get some cosmetics out of the multiplayer. I can’t say I will mind paying $60, but I certainly hope it’s actually worth that. Might be a bit more interesting if purchasing the game allows you to unlock a good chunk of cosmetic items the ol’ fashioned way; completing campaign on Legendary and other interesting challenges to unlock armor customization options that are only available to players in this way.

> Yeah, that’s not how that works.
It’s not, but considering €60 used to get us a full singleplayer campaign and a multiplayer package it would be insane if MS asked full price for just the singleplayer this time around. Then again, the game will seem like a budget title when it’s priced €40, when it’s absolutely not.
I’m going to be buying the game regardless if it’s $60 or not, but IMO if the multiplayer is going to be free for anyone to play then the price of the campaign should not be full price. Unfortunately, we all know that’s not how that works though.
I am stunned that multiplayer is free, unless they mean elements of multiplayer will be free, like Warzone for COD. I don’t play campaign it’s just not my thing. So thanks 343 you just saved me some £££ much love

Well, good sir, that would seem to be the only probable way i can logically actually see to make a game last ten years.

> I’m going to have to look for the source after work, but earlier last month, there was rumors of MS charging about 70$ for games and trying to force devs/pubs to not pull a rockstar/Bungie (sorry activision) and sell the same game across 3 generations, so there’s an increase in price, but you only buy the game once. It was discussed in a Game Pass talk, so that might also be part of the new big Game Pass push. Pretty sure Infinite will be an exception to the rule, but who knows.
That was from a quick look this morning. I expect that Infinite would be the same, as an added incentive to push the Game Pass subs, but I also don’t think that the full purchase will just include the campaign. They haven’t clarified yet what exactly F2P Halo MP will be, at least not that I could find. There could just one or 2 playlists that are free and the other playlists, game modes, firefight, rankings, warzone, ect, are gated behind the main game.
343 are only doing double profit, they remove multiplayer in the full game so they can sell you all the customization because the multiplayer is “free”, and the people that pay for the campaign only gets the half of a game
