Id like to suggest a simple compromise for the store given it being such a predatory place to nickle and dime the players. The excuse that “it’s a free to play” is not valid when 343i is charging a full $60 for the “campaign” alone. We all know they are covering some cost of the multiplayer by charging the full 60 for the campaign but what’s done is done.
To the devs and community managers, hope this reaches someone that can suggest my compromise for the players that do indulge in the campaign, the lore and all that halo has to offer when it comes to story telling and all. My suggestion being;
Campaign owners should receive a discount at the store ranging from 35%-55%, the dailies and weeklies respectively.
We are already being charge for the multiplayer in the full 60$ campaign, might as well give the campaign players some sort of a break to invest in the store.
Personally speaking if the prices don’t adjust I won’t spending on it more than this 1 time battle pass purchase.
To ME halo has always being campaign first then multiplayer.
Input from others are welcome. This sounds like a healthy compromise for those invested in the lore and or story,
Please just stop with this already. AAA games generally cost $60 as a new release regardless of how long their campaigns are, how many game modes they have, etc. There was no expectation for Microsoft to buck this practice that started in 2005.
I agree that the pricing of skins and stuff is crazy high, but who cares? Just don’t buy them. They don’t affect gameplay at all. You don’t need them for anything, and after a month or two, there will be enough unlock able so that people won’t all have to look the same.
I actually hate all of the stupid Fortnite crap they’re adding to the game anyway. I hate picking up a gun and having some stupid -Yoink!- keychain hanging off of it. I’m going to really hate playing when there are a dozen different flashy death animations and peoples footsteps are leaving fire and flower petals behind and all sorts of crap.
I can get behind this, but they’ll probably just say the cosmetics you can unlock in campaign offset the price.
As for the other guy, just because it costs that much for less content doesn’t make it right. And not everything has to do with gameplay. Do you play RPGs and not change the look I’d your character for example? And technically gameplay is anything to do in the game, not just the shooting aspect, so yes, changing your character is gameplay.
In the recent community playdate they addressed the cosmetic issue and even the devs know that cosmetic and armor customization is an integral part of halo. And yeah, i get the cosmetic:campaign price offset but still the reach stuff should be part of the BP from the getgo. The cosmetic challenge/merit grind system seems to be appearing more often and i’m Okay with that. In fact they could only make those challenges available to those that payed for the campaign even. The free players can stay free and the payed players can get the cosmetic through challenge/ merit system.
Reach is a bit different I think, since you had to climb so high to get the animated effects, you weren’t seeing them constantly, but yes, I think they’re annoying.
However, the death animations that you can impose on other people is a whole different level of obnoxious. It’s one thing to be able to buy cosmetics for yourself. It’s reprehensible that they allow you to buy screen animations to assault other people with.
Yeah, anything that was Reach themed should be in the battle pass. They should have a free tier of armor, battle pass armor, and then the paid stuff if people want that. Also, the prices in the store should be affordable, not as obnoxiously high as they are now. I am definitely willing to spend some money in the store if it’s a good price. A couple bucks here and there. Other ways to get the armor. Just make it rewarding.
It would be nice for people that actually bought it for real. Not just playing it for cheap on gamepass. But I wont hold my breath for anything. They are going for maximum monetization here.
I’d probably shoot for 25%, but overall not a bad idea.
Predatory nickel and diming over completely optional cosmetic items that don’t impact the gameplay whatsoever, once again the argument confuses me but oh well.
Frankly, buying the campaign should at least give you one free premium pass. I don’t think that’s unreasonable. You can’t even use the HAZOP armor you can buy unless you buy the premium pass and get the MK.V(B) core.
Also, sure the cosmetics don’t affect gameplay, but other games manage to have a store while not putting everything behind a paywall. Why settle for a lesser system for Infinite?
