Simply, BTB should have a mode where there are three teams of 8 players, all playing on a single map. It would cause a lot of chaos but would add an extra layer of complexity for capturing the flag or Slayer to be more interactive as there are now two other teams to be aware of during the time of a game. The main reason why this would be interesting is that 343 added 8 more players to the existing 16 players in BTB, so it’s the potential for 8v8v8 type of games and other game modes to work. Also, this helps bring in more new fans of the series as this is a free multiplayer game who would want to experience it with friends in squads of 4 or more, so the potential for two teams of 4 in these 8v8v8 lobbies can be pretty cool as well for casuals wanting to play. To even make it more interesting, bring in modes like Dominion, Extraction, Invasion, or Breakout to keep the diversity of 3 teams games more intense, interesting, and a name worthy of the newer BTB. What do you guys think?
-Also who knows if this type of mode can be a free DLC mode in the future content for Halo infinite, as seasons are going to be coming out pretty quickly after release on Dec 8th.
I always liked Multi-team so the bigger variant could be fun too. You could also do 6v6v6v6.
Only problem is you get kill stolen and shot in the back a ton. Even in the 2v2v2v2 this was frustrating sometimes, but won’t be as bad as having 2 or 3 other larger teams shooting at you or your targets. KoTH would likely play the best in my opinion if they even have the game mode.
there is such a thing as overcomplication, although super chaotic modes can be fun, I’d much rather have simple rules and win conditions.
8v8v8 sounds awesome. As does 4 teams of 6. Wasn’t old school H2 multi-team teams of 4? Reminds me of that. Would be fun to get into the action faster than the BTB we played in the flight. Sometimes it felt like you had to look for an engagement a little too hard.

I never once had a problem finding enemies or being found by enemies during the BTB flight… 12 v 12 is plenty for that map.
Spoiler alert:
4 x 6 = 24
2 x 12 = 24
8 + 8 + 8 = 24
24 is a good number.

yes i’m with you.
Altough i like the idea of the OP, i think KotH would be the only mode wich would make sense in combination with the idea from OP.

For sure, KoTH and Territories or even a larger version of Strongholds (5 capture points instead of 3 as shown in the Halo Infinite Flight) can work in a 6v6v6v6, or even the 8v8v8 as mentioned, I feel as though BTB should add diversity for those coming into the series for the first time since Battle Royales are a thing people are familiar with. I just hope for future modes, vehicles, and weapons after launch to keep people interested, as first impressions matter a lot, and promises for more content such as multi-team game modes can replace custom games for a time until next year.
(think of the Party Games browser section in COD games or Action Sack in Halo as these are casual centered games to have fun in, and can be just another mode within BTB called “Multi-team BTB” and if you don’t want to play it, you can just play normal BTB or it can be in rotation)

I feel it should be a mode that should be released in a future season down the line. It can even be the focal point for the season in the marketing for months to come. Similar to how Season 7 in the MCC was about Elite customization and Season 8 is about medieval armors. In my opinion, it can be an option for 343’s marketing to advertise Multi-Team BTB or game modes alongside with Custom games browser and Forge next year when E3 comes around as this game is supposed to be live service one that will last at least 10 years. There’s always room for improvement or add-ons after a game’s release. (Case in point Halo 5’s release of Forge improving that game’s life expectancy significantly)

Spoiler alert:
4 teams of 6 means I have 18 enemies (higher chance of encounter) instead of 12. Same for 3 of 8 (16). Glad you got through 3rd grade math though. But maybe you should get further before waving it in other people’s faces.
I never advocated for a larger player count, so I’m glad we can agree on that.

How i said, i like the fundamental idea from you and it’s for sure not bad if they add something like this. But it should be thrown in well thought-out. Like SepticonWarrior said, or indicated, in a slayer mode it’s probably a little bit frustrating and i think it almost can only work in KotH or something simular.
And as cool as it seems, i don’t think it’s an improvement rather an addition. And tbh the comparison with forge is dificult in this case because Forge is a core-mode from Halo and 8vs8vs8 not.

Yeah, they can always make the Multi-Team Gamemodes exclusive to objective ones only. As In, there will be no Slayer or deathmatch styled modes to incentivize the frustrations of getting killed by either 16 other enemy players in an 8v8v8 or 18 enemies in 6v6v6v6. Think of Invasion in Halo Reach as this mode was its own separate thing separate from Slayer and focused on teamwork. The only issues with Invasion are the lower team counts of 6v6 and dropouts due to being Dc’d, AFKing, or quitting turning the tides of the match. This is why I’d feel the addition of more teams can prevent this lack of interaction and more sandbox shenanigans to happen. Though I agree, that this needs to be heavily thought through and shouldn’t be compared to Forge in any means but rather an add-on or way to boost another future marketing campaign to keep the game relevant for casuals and fresh for newer fans and old ones as well.

I took your post all together to mean “lol more players won’t even be on the map with 3x8 or 4x6”
So if you meant it as 3 separate thoughts:
“I found encounters fine.”
“24 players is enough.”
“Wow, 24 can be divided by 2, 3, 6, 8, and 12 evenly!”
I apologize.

Do not make fun of our querky Maths!
Anyway, as part of what was pointed out, the numbers that really matter is how many enemies and how large the map is.16 v 8, for example, has less enemy interactions for the team of 16 than the team of 8. But, explaining this is a little goofy, as you and I both know.
FFA 24 players will have the most chaos, for better or worse.
So, finding that balance between more chaotic interactions and more equal competition is the challenge.
And, players are ok with the fact that one team will always be getting double- or triple-teamed, which is unavoidable.
Partially related, 2v2v2v2v2v2v2v2 Rocket Race could be insane!

I suspect there would be a lot of quitters.
Have you ever played excite truck or excite bots?
I imagine it would have to have a different scoring metric. Like every checkpoint gets you 50 points. But every time your mongoose flips you get 1 point. And every time you land a direct rocket hit you get 5 points (Obviously I’ll let the math wizards work out the actual numbers).
The game would have to track all that though. Maybe stuff like top speed or consecutive checkpoints, etc. Could earn points too. That way there is more comeback potential for trailing teams.
