Halo Infinite Brute Design Motif

Like many of you, I have been pouring over the demo and campaign trailer footage to see what 343i will be bringing us this Holiday season. Some good, some bad. The point I wish to make with this thread is understanding the design choice for The Banished Brutes in Halo Infinite compared to those used in Halo Wars 2. Now 343i is no stranger to taking established character models and making them their own, for better or worse. However, they helped influence Halo Wars 2’s design…specifically The Banished and their design motif. Below I have linked to several images to highlight the differences between the two designs.

Halo Infinite:

Halo Wars 2

With The Banished an established faction in the Halo Universe, having a very clear bulky, angular, armored tone to their infantry, vehicles, and buildings, why is it felt that a new design was needed to represent them in Halo Infinite? In addition to the fact that they are using the same color scheme as the covenant (with a new addition of Purple?). 343i could have just as easily used the same Halo Wars 2 design motif and philosophy for the Brutes in Halo Infinite: include angular, heavily armored pieces. This would have kept the familiarity that fans knew and that had already been established under their guidance. This would have allowed them to play with the Brute armor pieces and bulk when trying to delineate between the various ranks and special classes of Brutes all while keeping the same color scheme too. That last part extends to the various Elite, Grunt, and Jackal designs too. What are The Banished design motifs in Halo Infinite?

Not sure if many had considered these aspects as most threads I see pertain to the up close picture of the Brute face. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this design choice.

**Side note: Why is Escharum the only Brute with any level of hair on their body in Halo Infinite? I’m not asking for H2A level but a little can go a long way and keep the Brutes from looking smooth and almost reptilian-like.

Apologies for the poor production, did this in PPT (at work right now). You get the idea though…

Got a hearty chuckle out of that. Thanks. But your image shows what I am talking about.
