I know the battle pass is a sore subject to a lot of people but I want to reiterate that you should NOT buy into it in its current state.
At release the in game currency, on the higher tiers, was approximately $100 for 10,000 coins with a +1,500 bonus and I have seen others stating the the 5,000 coin deal with a +600 coin bonus was approximately $55. As of today the prices dropped from $100 to $89.99 and from $55 to $49.99. Supposedly this is a discounted price for gamepass subscribers but i’ve read a lot of those subscribers were not offered that discount until after making their purchases. Myself included. I understand it’s only $10 but with the way items are currently priced in the store that adds up to a lot! Potentially a whole other battle pass down the road.
Don’t bother trying to request a billing ticket through xbox support either. It’ll get kicked back the minute you submit it since you more than likely played for multiple hours already or spent some of the currency on your battle pass. For all the talk about not wanting to make the battle pass predatory, or not wanting people to experience FOMO, 343 has done a poor job reflecting that.
They should have kept the battle pass locked as technically this is more akin to a public beta than an actual release and have tweaked the currency like they said they were.
For everyone that will inevitably defend the battle pass due to the multiplayer being FTP; the campaign is still $60 and supposedly there will be cosmetics earned through the campaign for your multiplayer character. Even 6 years ago when Halo 5 came out you could earn all the armor pieces and cosmetics without spending a single dime, experience campaign and multiplayer for $60 + tax. Before then you had Halo: CE - Halo 4 that came with a full package of story + multiplayer (with future additions of FF and forge) for $60. If you add DLC then maybe you’re paying $100 tops.
