Halo Infinite/Assassinations

So just a random thought, since we didnt see any shown in the gameplay reveal but do you think assassinations will be making a return to Halo Infinite and if so would you prefer it to be assassinations of your choice like in Guardians or random like in Reach and 4

If the style of the game is similar to Halo 3’s then I would prefer the old back smack assassination.

I think it depends. In the game types with no radar/no increased movement abilities, I enjoy having the full assassination animation - they’re fun and a good way to “humiliate” another player. They were best implemented in Reach IMO.

I just didn’t get much out of assassinations in Halo 5 - because the longer you took to kill a person, the more you were in danger, and with all the abilities it was just harder to land one in the first place. Nothing annoyed me more than opening a REQ pack and getting new assassination animations. Like, I never use these in the first place - thanks for wasting my time lol

I personally didn’t like assassinations because they usually happened at a bad time and I died. I was glad when they had the option to turn it off in Halo 5, I’m sure they will make a return in Infinite. I hope you can create your own assassinations, even though I’ll probably never use it.

Same, I think reach definitely had the best, though I did like them in 5 too, even though I always use the fastest assassination to make sure I dont die in the middle of it, but was kinda fun getting them there since I could thruster pack behind someone sneaking up on me and got plenty of assassinations that way

I never used them in Reach, and couldn’t care a thing if there in the game or not.

The assassinations are definitely fun to watch and there are some really cool ones to use, but they do often leave you exposed. They will probably bring them back, but it might be quicker and with less animation options and the option to just not see them at all. That or it becomes just the simple melee from behind.

I don’t care much for assassinations but would like them to remain in the game and I did like the customization of the different assassination moves.

I just want to assassinate someone with a fusion coil :smiling_imp:

As an open world game maybe things like stealth and assassination mechanics will be expanded on.

Everyone loves stealthily killing sleeping grunts lol.

modular assassinations where there are like 3 steps you can choose to customize what happens.

Like stab, kick, elbow;
or grab, throw, kick.

You could also just chose these steps to be random every time.

I would love to see assassinations return in Halo: Infinite! Assassinations are one of my favorite parts of Halo: Reach, 4, and 5. With your point about the random assassinations, you could actually control which ones you performed. This worked on every enemy including other spartans, you just had to come at a certain angle or speed. Now I see a lot of comments saying that they don’t like them and they just left you easier to kill, but you could just simply not perform them by just tapping the melee button behind someone if you are so against them, that would still instantly kill them. There really was no need for a button to turn them off unless you always held the melee button down for some reason. Assassinations made me feel more involved in the game as well, especially in the campaign. It’s really fun to see all of the cool ways you could kill the enemy. So overall I do think they are going to have assassinations in this game because they are liked by so many fans. Oddly though this comment section has been pretty “Meh” about them, and I don’t really see why. I cannot express how much I love assassinations, so all I have to say is that I really really hope they do make it into Halo: Infinite.

As long es they are more realistic and not so marvel-like as in Halo 5 [cause some animations are reall stupid] I have no problem with it.

Also, what I really hate sometimes: In Reach you always see in the animation that you take out your knife to kill the enemy and you also saw how your spartan put back the knife - was really cool. Also I don’t have a problem with “slowly” moves it’s more a problem, that some people want a twitch shooter where you can be everywhere everytime ultra fast.

Definitely the Reach Assassinations. Those are the best. But you should also have customizable ones too.

I agree. Some in Halo: 5 were wayyyy too over the top haha.

I found the unlockable assassinations from 5 to be charming. Plus with it being optional you got to choose whether or not to flex on the guy you just got or not. I’d like for there to be multiple “slots” in terms of locational assassinations. Like normal, ground to air, air to ground and both players mid-air.

I want assassinations to come back and it would be cool if we could either choose which one is used or a random option.

My money is they are working on putting the finishing touches on a customizable assassination pack. When it’s finished it’ll be launch time.

I think they should add the halo Reach Assassinations back so that way it’ll be a quick kill

It would be fitting for their first season because it’s called “Echoes of Reach” or something of the sort.
