Halo Infinite Art Style

I have seen a lot of the community split on how they feel about the look of the game. Personally I love it! But I can understand why some are so upset with the way it looks. For me it screams HALO! It also shows me that 343 is trying to listen to us in some way. Look at Halo 4 and Halo 5’s art style. They were beautiful, but to me it wasn’t truly Halo. This new art style really gives me that Halo vibe. Also a point I like to make is that this isn’t a Battle Field title or even a COD title which usually aims to be truly realistic when it comes to graphics. Halo on the other hand is literally a man in space armor roaming the plains of space to kill off Aliens. My point being is that they don’t NEED to try and fit in with the intensely realistic high end graphics. If you disagree, tell me why!

It’s not the art style people have a problem with, it’s the lighting, lack of reflections, lack of shadows, map elements popping in and out, etc. The art style itself looks fine.

I see, a point that was made in a video I saw earlier is that this game play we got was a demo that was finished a couple months ago, maybe more has been done or will be done before launch when it comes to lighting and such?

More than likely yes. “Polish” is typically one of the last things to be done with a game, so they should hopefully still have time to fix any dynamic lighting issues.

I liked it. Agree completely with you.

Potentially lighting and shadows are like that because the sun moves? Could be a day/night cycle game which would mean it’s a lot harder to give everything the 100% finish look at all times.

Unreal Engine 5 shows that won’t be a problem in the future but that’s a long way out still.

Never seen complaints about the art style, only lighting and textures.

the contrast, s-curve and other similarily basic settings were off in the demo. “halo hunter” made a video edit of to fix this. it makes the demo look way better (not yet as good as hoped, but at least passable):

Halo Infinite Gameplay Demo Reshaded

he turned the satuartion up to high in my opinon, but the rest is awesome.

Elite, grunts, and jackals look great (art wise they look pretty bad graphically). Brutes look bad and the commando looks like a gun from titan fall.

Yes it is a day night cycle game. Raytracing will fix it even more but that’s a later patch for xsx

Is beautiful

The art style has always been a nitpick debate but to be honest I still don’t like it, possibly not helped by how bad the graphics are and lack of shadows but I really don’t like the grunts, banished, architecture or hexagonal landscapes in the trailer. Nothing about it looks that reminiscent of the OG Halos to me. I like chiefs new forward unto dawn inspired design and I like the look of the marines from the slipspace engine trailer but I’ve always disliked things like the Halo 4/5 warthog and the weapon design I think is horrible in this new game. I had a guy try to tell me things like the grunts look like CE / Halo 3 and they just don’t. They look all weirdly proportioned and low detail, that kind of thing.

colors of armor and plasma particles are too bright and vivid, which a bungie halo don‘t have, making everything cartoon-like, phantom shown in the demo doesn’t like the concept art back to HW2 but sth else lego would have, so did the the brutes, human weapons look like back to 21 century and seems doesn’t belong to Halo(I’ll try to get used with this, though), the rest are OK

This is one of the best videos yet, explainung the problems with the Halo infinite light rendering and general appearence!

I like the art style (except for the weapons shown). The colourfulness and cartoonish looks are very appealing imo.

All of Bungie’s armor was bright, colorful and plastic-like. Reach was the only game where it wasn’t.

but they are not “vivid” as this demo shows, so was the plasma particles

it was not plastic like. the surface had very intrecate materials of different kind and good lighting behavior. halo infinite ( and halo 5 to a degree) have the problem of many materials not behaving and looking as they should in the artstyle.
