So does the new armor that chief is wearing going to be a mix of Gen 1 and Gen 2?
Like in halo Wars 2 Red team had a hybrid set along with omega team.
My Question is chief going to have a mix of both versions of Mark 6 armor? Its leaning more to Gen 1 Mark 6 or the classic style. I just dont want the art style to change drastically again. A mix of old and new lol.

After checking out The front page article and references of all the small details of what was showed, The Master Chief is wearing Mark 6.
While i absolutely appreciate the return to or leaning more towards classic halo wars 2 style i wouldn’t mind seeing a healthy mix of the smooth hightech grey style introduced in H4/h5.
My guess is infinity and the spirit of fire will meet and we will have the best of both worlds.
It looks to just be a remastered version of his Halo 2/3 armor with very little changes. The thing about Douglas’ armor in Halo Wars 2 was the helmet was a combo between Mark IV and VI, but since we see the helmet in the trailer, this doesn’t appear to be the case.
I believe it was confirmed that the look of Chief’s armor in H4 and 5 is just an art style choice, so maybe they’re just going back to the OG art style.
Maybe it’s Mark VII, could be a more minimalist, sleek design inspired by ONI like Locke and the rest of Osiris. It’d be stupid and regressive to return to Mark VI Gen 1 or even Mark V. Though Mark VI Gen 2 was my favorite.

I’d have to agree with you.
Personally, it -Yoink- me a little when from game to game they change armour, ships, or weapon designs and say it’s the same version as the previous title, just a new art style. To me, it knocks you out of the immersive-ness like a toddler whose changed his vexatious little mind about what ice cream he wants.
That being said, the trend being what it is, it seems likely that it’s just an art style change. Could be totally wrong though!

I completly agree, while i like the open world, i rather see things more halo 5ish. Im sure we will get a game like 5 “the good parts” at sone point in the future.

I definitely think they should explain the armor change in some way. It just wouldn’t make sense

Thats Chief definitely read the new article. I was wrong in my thoughts about hybridization, but i wouldn’t mind seeing more of gen 2 and gen 1 in h2a style

Pretty much. Im very very happy chief has his new old armor. The visor isnt cracked and what not.

I dont think so… I just wish Halo 4 had his armor get damaged by the didact, and therefore he would then switch to gen 2 opening the door for more armor abilities. But im glad chief himself has returned in his iconic armor. I just hope everyone else hasnt…

Its just an updated look on MK.V1 from the looks of it. I took in all the little details i could and even references my McFarlane Figures from each generation of armor. Its straight up Mark 6

I wish that were the case. Unfortunately 343 tried to say that Cortana changed his suit while in cryo… which is still total bs I say. And with them pulling a whole 180 with this new game and giving him Bungie-Era Mk VI again just proves they can’t keep their story straight… well, to me atleast.
I rather like 343 Industries’s version of John’s armour. Never was fond of the Halo 2/Halo 3 look – too lean, too sleek. Always preferred the tank-like bulk of the Mark V suit, and the Mark VII/Gen 2 from Halo 4/5 was some of that.
I’ll miss it, if we’re getting stuck with this one. I wonder if they’ll justify this change with weird canon nonsense too. They really shouldn’t have bothered with the nanomachines explanation; “it’s an artistic choice” would have sufficed.

They changed his armor because it was a new series and tried to say it was changed in cryo. What they should have done in 4 was allow his armor to be damaged up until he gets to the infinity after he gets wacked by the didact and promethians.

I thought they said it was a bit of both. A bit of an art style change and a bit of Cortana’s changing. I heavily looked into this because it bothered me so much.
