A lot of people want the Halo 3 or Reach armor unlock system to be in Halo Infinite but I think there is a better option how to unlock armors and that system is the Halo 4 system. Why the Halo 4 armor unlock system? Because it is the most user friendly system since it rewards the player for playing the game while ranking up, which makes the player want to play more. While also having armor unlocks behind commaditions and beating the campaign on legendary. I remember unlocking Venator after a BTB when I finished the assassantions commadition and getting Mark 6 gen2 from beating the campaign on legendary with a friend. In Halo 4 you felt you earned your armor just like H3 with the commaditions, while getting armor by ranking up without spending credits unlike Reach.
I would like to see the Halo 4 armor unlock system return while the REQ system has armor skins and ESPORTS armors.
That is just my opinion though
I think any combination of the H3/4 or reach system would be ideal. As long as its not all related to req packs. The one thing I really liked about reach is that you can grind & grind to save up for that one special item (inclement weather). That was always fun to do.

After a year of grinding REQ points I relized how grindy reach is. So I don’t want to grind credites or REQ points to unlock armors again.

I think thats what was great about reach though, you don’t have to grind the points. Its entirely up to you if you want to spend them right away, or save up for the big ticket items. I don’t mind the req packs in terms of unlocks for vehicles & weapons, but thats all that should be in there.
I just don’t want so many trashy options like there was in h5

I’ve been griping to my bro nonstop that if they’re gonna put 200 plus armors in the frieking game, make it so that you can actually see them in a way that’s meaningful. There’s literally two rows of armor stacked on each other–you have to scroll a hundred times to the right to even see the stuff at the end. It’s really dumb. And I don’t understand why different skins of the same armor aren’t grouped together. That would cut out a lot of the problems with the armor menu. Again, whatever they do with the armor this next time, I hope they present it well.

There is sooo much filler its ridiculous. I don’t think anyone appreciates it, or looks at all the options and says “Wow, look how many unique pieces of armour there are” . They need to cut it down, keep the good stuff, & reduce the different variants of vehicles too. No one needs 10 different types of scout hogs. No one.
I feel that Reach does just that. I mean, back when I wasn’t a Brigadier and the Mark VI was unveiled to me, I REALLY REALLY wanted it, more than anything. So, I just kept playing and ranking up, banking all those Cr for when the time comes, and when it did, I just got happy, because I finally got what I wanted.
What I want is a combo. Have armor unlockable through commendations (4) and purchasable pieces using earned Cr (Reach).
Imagine: Mark VI | Complete campaign on Legendary (Commendation), then you can buy pieces for it using Cr, AND THEN, you can get H4’s version if you complete the campaign on Mythic… although I feel that one is extremely unfair and a very few percentage of people would have it. It also doesn’t make sense realistically…
Now realistically, since REQs are returning, I think we’ll have to buy packs for them again… just hope for Clone troopers instead of Storm troopers (quality over quantity).
Personally i would like to see no cheap variant unlocks that are given out freely so people can get cheap unlocks. For example, the helioskrill armor or sticker shock weapon skins. Both were “exclusive” then just handed out like candy at a later date, thus making the the unlocks less valuable. I vote that the armor vaiants can only be unlocked when the base version is unloked before hand.

Yeah a lot of the exlusive items lose their appeal if they are just put in req packs later. Thats the whole point of an exclusive, to be exclusive.
Personally I prefer 3’s system the most but I wouldn’t be mad about implementing the system from 4. Anything is better than random loot boxes

Yeah the UI left alot to be desired, I’d love to see reach’s UI and active roster return. Select your armor piece then have it bring up your options for it like attachments and skin not make every slight variantion a seperate piece in menu.
If they were to take anything from unlocking armor halo 4 i’d prefer the specialization way, just with getting xp in every game mode like reach. I dont think matchmaking commedations and achievement are a good idea for all unlocks because they negatively affect how people play the game. You wanna do campaign, firefight, or other co-op achievements and commedations that I’d be ok with.
My ideal system would be reach’s but with maybe a few high profile armors set aside for achievements like beating the campaing gets you Mark IV on normal, Mark V on heroic, Mark VI on legendary, And chief halo 4/5 Mark VI or Mark VII for LASO. And you get ODST, Nightfall, Recon, Military Police, Helljumper for beating the 4th set of classic firefight on varying difficuties. Maybe save achilles for hitting max xp rank or something and the noble team armors for beating new firefight on varying difficuties? And since microtransactions are more then likely still going to be a thing have everything that isnt achievement based available for purchase for those who dont want to grind.
I moreso agree. While Halo 4’s unlocking system wasn’t entirely the best, it had you to keep playing the game even after you’ve reached max rank (SR130)
When it comes to armor itself, less is more. Like stated above, you don’t need the same armor with different prints on it. Or 15 different mongooses that’ll I’ll never use.
As far as unlock system, I like the Halo Reach customization including the grind, BUT I would also like to see more meaningful armors to unlock.

Hyabusa/Katana H3
Inheritor Reach
MKVI H4
Or even Achilles H5 but a lot less team based
I think the unlocking system is way more important to halo than the removal of sprint and AA’s
I think a combination of h4/reach armor would be the best. Lvl up for points to buy the armor but have exclusive armor hidden behind certain commendations. Make some of it super hard commendations to complete.

That’s literally how the Halo 4 unlock system work. Only less grindy then Halo Reach’s
