I really like the new chief design, but something felt off to me. After some time i noticed the new chief model has some slightly off body proportions.
He has a slightly short torso, no crotch/butt, too short arms (that connect too low to his shoulders) and slightly to narrow shoulders (or to flat angled shoulders).
The Forward unto dawn chief suit and the halo wars 2 spartans have better proportions.
Additionaly i think the new chief design could use some textures simmilar to the Halo 5 ones on the undersuit ( slight digital camo pattern and scale patterns( like the scales on the halo wars 2 model)) to better bridge the classic and halo 5 design.
I feel his proportions look better in the Xbox Series X reveal trailer, and I’d put it down to the lighting in the back of the Pelican, and the fact that he is suspended from the back of the armour, rather than from his shoulders. It would make him more hunched over. It looks better in other shots in the same trailer, such as when he asks the pilot “Status report.”, or is looking out of the cockpit at the Halo ring.
Additionally textures would certainly be nice though.
Very good observation. it does look better. i think his waist is a little too wide and his shoulder still slightly too narrow in the xbox sx reveal trailer.
The image of the chief hanging is exagerated due to his posture, but it is the only avaiable full body image.

Possibly…But Spartans aren’t just taller than non-augmented humans, they’re meant to be giants: larger in every proportion.
The relative location of his arms to his body is affected by his chest piece armour, as it goes under the arm, which prevents Chief’s arms from resting naturally at his sides. If they were able to, I believe his shoulders would look appropriately apart.
wider shoulders (shoulderpads more distant from torso)
i also raised his space diper a bit, stretched the image by 1% in height and reduced the blue hue by ~3%
the changed proportions make the chief look more athletic, without reducing the bulk (just toning the bulk) or creating unrealistic proportions. adapted xbox sx reveal chief

I know spartans are upscaled humans, not just stretched liek a tall person. But i think spartans would have “peak physique”, not just an average body.
the more defined waist and raised space diaper let chief look slightly more agile (the reveal trailer chief looks slightly hunched, as the natural s curve of the back is somewhat missing. maybe the motion capture actors posture. the waist edit fixis that) and the more offset shoulder pads give more room for movement/create a more menacing silouette. the arms in the reveal trailer are fine otherwise.

Hard to see the differences between the original and your adapted version.
Nonetheless I agree with you that Spartans needs to look athletic and muscular but they also needs to be giants compared to other humans.

the change is minimal, but creates a better silouette. alightly more undersuit showing at the joints would also be nice to display the athleticism and better bridge the classic and h4/5 armor artstyle. the new chief design shows less undersuit than any other previous iteration.
