Halo Infinite Armor Customization

Halo Infinite seems to be quite a ways away, so now is the time to put in any last minute requests, hopes, and desires for the game.

This is my message to you 343. Please hear it.

Halo 5’s customization was a disaster. You gave us three options as far as character appearances go. Helmet, armor, and visor. That’s it. I think that I speak for the whole of the Halo community when I say we want more. We want that level of control that we had with Halo Reach and then some. Here are some of my personal ideas.

Helmets
Bring back attachments like Reach had. Add two or three for every helmet, and you can even reuse some attachments for multiple helmets.

Visor
Give us more than what Reach had, but not like Halo 5. I’m talking red, blue, yellow, green, black, silver, and purple. Perhaps you could simply attach the visor color to the color wheel like armor color.

Left/Right Shoulder
Make each shoulder customizable, and maintain variety.

Chest
Keep some variety. Make sure there’s plenty of variety, and that each armor is distinguished from the other. Bring back robotic arms, and maybe even add attachments to the armor like Reachs helmets,

Knee
Once again, variety and distinguish-ability is crucial.

Decals
Halo 5 had a lot of armor, including many variations—but these variations were merely decals. Instead of making decals part of the armor set, make them separate pieces. Unlockable through achievement, and then either allow us to move them freely on the armor or have a preset position for them on a shoulder piece, chest, or leg. Think of Carter from Reach. He had a while diagonal line on his leg, and the UNSC emblem on his shoulder.

Black Undersuits
Need I say more?

Height
This is one of the big changes that I was thinking of. Give us the option to control our Spartans height and body type. The scale for height doesn’t have to be crazy, but give us a range of 6-12 inches to modify the height of our Spartans will give us a whole new level of customization.

Body Type
Another big innovation, but allow us to control our body types. Allow us to be bulky or slim. Once again, it doesn’t have to be crazy, but it’s the little things that count.

Face
Give us the ability to customize our Spartans facial look. Skin color, eye color, eye shape, nose shape, things like that. I’m not sure how this could be used in-game, but it would be really cool.

Please, 343 Industries, give us options. Customization is a very important part of any game, and the notebook options the better. We don’t, however, need hundreds of each type. 10-12 of each individual armor component at launch, and you can add more with updates. Make sure that everything is distinguished from one another. Everything’s should be unique, look good, and stand out.

In Addition
All of the armor pieces should be unlockable through rank and achievements. No more lottery. We want to feel like we’re earning something, not getting lucky in a lottery.

I doubt that there will be height and body type options due to balancing issues, but I imagine that they’re going to go all out with armour customisation (as well as playable Elites, hopefully). The early narrative for Infinite seems to be that the developers are finally doing what the community wants by just making a Halo game, and so personally—given all that and the protracted development cycle—I’m expecting a lot of substantial improvements over the past two games.

Just a suggestion for visors, give us the option of a glowing visor. That’d be very cool on darker maps.

I really hope this returns, along with reaches armour cache & what could be customized. H5 was extremely limited & repetitive in this aspect. I want to know i earned what i get

I don’t see face or height coming into play. That seems unnecessary for the most part. Id rather them focus on basic customization first,

Woah, those are pretty good ideas. I hope 343 decides to put these features in the game. I’ve always wanted to customize facial features with the option to take our helmets off.

I’d also like to see a return of armor effects as well with some new ones.

Halo 5’s customization was cool but i feel the lottery type deal was way to much. More grinding and playtime should play into it. Also gear based off of high challenges should make a big occurrence.

I don’t know why I feel so strongly about this, but I do not want our Spartans to have faces.

Awesome. I’ll be able to see my enemies who are stupid enough to select this option way more easily.

All i want it to be is atleast as good as Halo 4 's armor customization. (Its basically Halo Reach armor customization on steroids)

I’d like to see the customization options of installation 01 but with the option to add attachments to armor pieces. Also wouldn’t mind some of the options from dooms multiplayer like being able to add patterns/skins/camo to armor and weapons plus the weathering/scratched options but that may be pushing it.

I think they could have a thing where like in halo 5 for the helioskrill armor you had to complete all the mcc campaigns on legendary. But in infinite they could have a thing where for a odst armor you had to finish halo 3 odst’s campaign or to get your armor a scratched or weathered look you had to complete all the campaigns on heroic or legendary. They could also have a thing where you unlock emblems and assassinations from challenges. I think almost everything in the game should be unlocked by some kind of challenge so that we don’t have to spend time racking up req points or buying req packs with real money.

as much as I want helmet attachments back, it should be handled better than it was in reach. We were limited in what attachment we could use with each helmet. there were attachments I really wanted to use with certain helmets, but I couldn’t. all attachments should be available to all helmets.

I really want to see my emblem on my shoulder pads again. or (in regards to the mentioned decals) our emblems are the decals and we can place them where we want on our armor.

preferably, we get the color patterns from halo 2 or 3 again

personal note: really want to see the seeker helmet return, at least a redesign to fit with the style or another helmet with attachments to resemble it, I like having continuity.

That’s why I suggested around 6 inches for height modifications. It won’t be a major difference, and shouldn’t impact the gameplay (assuming there won’t be clambering). I do see the possible repercussions of modifiable height and body type though.

I agree with mixing and matching attachments and armor pieces and having your emblem on character again.

as far as seeker goes check this out if you havent already his redesign is pretty good, does a good job with hazop too in his second video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdXldLxStCM

seen this one before, but thanks for the video, some of the designs look great.

I actually did a redesign myself, its an older post:

I agree Halo Reach had the best Armor Customization. The only downside is that you couldn’t do Black. If the have the color palette from Guardians with the Reach customization then that would be killer matchmaking

Speaking of colour palette, id like to see a more simpliar colour wheel when it comes to the visors. I don think there is any need for the different multicolour variants. Some are cool, but some just seem unnecessary & very similar anyways. At least add in each colour to begin with, then have your multi coloured variants.

I agree with everything you say. I expect/hope halo infinite has at the very least reach level customization but it should really have even more than reach

Halo 4 did that, it wasn’t fun.
