> with each of the helmets below as part of the new Mk. VII armor core
I looked through every image and frame of a multiplayer spartan, and have come to this conclusion after reading this sentence from the Showcase Sensitive blog post.
If you pick the Mark VII armor core, you will not* be able to wear customization options that are part of the Mark V core!
*Unless 343i says otherwise, this is very likely the case.
Edit: This is indeed the case.
> For launch, customization components are associated with a specific core. Sorry we weren’t more clear about that. Team is already thinking about ways to open that up and allow more mixing and matching down the road.
Take a look at other chest armor attachments for the Mark VII and V cores, you will see that they are not compatible with one another’s model shapes. Likely, you will not see a Mark V hand armor on a Mark VII core body, same goes for helmets, knees, and shoulders as well. The only spartan I saw, in the Game Overview ViDoc, that might contradict this is the Mark V core red body spartan with the Mark V(b) helmet, as the knee guards are not from a reach variant. I can’t confirm if it’s seen again on any spartan with a Mark VII core.
To my understanding, the armor core portion is made of:
-Tech suit
-Arms
-Torso
-Groin
-Legs
iirc there was a toy that doesn’t fit inside the core thing theory. Tbf I kinda understand why they would limit it to certain pieces per core, but I don’t think they’ll do it.

Which one? I own all of the current jazwares line.
Edit: If it’s from mega construx, that is very likely inaccurate to the game, since they reuse old molds for their mini figures.

343i confirmed a long time ago to not look too much into toys. Don’t see it as confirmation for one or another.

The core restriction discussion was brought up the other day, at the moment it looks like this may be the case (eg Yoroi armour core is the only way to use the Yoroi armour) but until 343 confirm it we won’t know for sure. It will make sense in canon, but will be restricting for players.
as long as the cores have plenty to choose from, I’ll be okay with it. It makes sense for how the armors come together as well, some things shouldnt be compatible with other cores. Helps with the over all aesthetic of the armors as well, I’m pretty sure if Yoroi was mixed with anything other than that aesthetic, it would look awful.

I believe they’re referring to this particular action figure. The Gungnir helmet looks so clean with the Mk.VII pieces, it’s hard to believe that they might needlessly restrict certain helmets to certain cores. I’m still hoping that 343 addresses this issue in an Inside Infinite article because I personally need more proof than just an action figure before I let go of my skepticism.

Funny enough, I think the Gungnir figure actually supports the armor restrictions more. While figures aren’t a 100% representation, that helmet does have differences compared to the Reach version. Certain details are in different spots, missing or exclusive to this version. Just looking at them side by side, its clear they are not the same model.
Think about it, we have seen multiple “duplicates” for each core. Recon and Trailblazer, Celox and Scout (though they do look different), ODST (presumably) and the ODST looking helmet in the reveal, MK.5 and its MK.7 looking counterpart. Each core seems to have its own version of one helmet. Why do that if you could put them on both cores?

You’re right, this particular gungnir helmet is unique to the Halo Infinite Mark VII core line, (the armored piece covering the face is a helmet accessory)

So long as the cores have a lot of options, I won’t mind. It helps ensure the aesthetics of certain armors don’t get mucked up by certain cores. For example, the Yoroi core? Would look totally dumb with pretty much any armor from the Mark V or Mark VII cores.
Reach style CQB might look odd on Mark VII core too.

Not really.
More cores means more limitations.
For instance, if there are 1000 pieces (helmets, shoulders, etc), and the game has 5 armour cores, that’s 200 items per core, and any batch of 200 can not be interchanged with the other 800 items.
If there are 10 cores, and the total of pieces is still 1000, then that’s only 100 items per core, and further segregating pieces that can be placed on the Spartan together.
I kinda hope that there’s only like 3 cores. If they start popping them out left right and centre, we’re going to run into the problem of fans getting their hands on a cool new armour set, only to find out it’s for the amour core that they don’t really like, or can’t mix it with other amour they like.
Im fine with the inclusion of ’one-off’ cores like the Yoroi. It gives them the opportunity to make a more complete set with more areas covered and more cohesive style. If playable Elites were a thing, they’d have to go down this road with the Arbiter, as individual pieces over the base core wouldn’t be satisfying from a visual standpoint.

What do you think about customization? Do you like the presentation overall?

I don’t think we will be seeing more than the 3 cores we’ve seen at launch. might see one or maybe two more. Very likely we will see additions to these cores in the future.
I’d like to see a halo 3 core for those armor variants.

I love everything about it and if it’s limited to the cores, the way I think it is, I’m fine with that because it keeps the aesthetics clean and good looking. We are still getting the most player expression out of any of the Halo games with this system the way it has been shown to us. It’s funny to think we still don’t know the full list of customization available to us.

That’s a good thing and I honestly don’t want to be spoiled with knowing everything. Ironically that’s why I am not upset about not knowing about a lot of the actual story. The less I know the more I can speculate on. Plus, I have really enjoyed what I have seen from the campaign side.
We already had a huge problem in Halo 5 with just the Visor, Body and Helmet selection. We do not need anymore restrictions for Halo Infinite Customization.
