I don’t see why we can’t have armour coatings and colours. I would be ok spending money on a coating if I could choose what colours to apply.

I won’t buy an item that does not appeal. Have some sets you cannot change like promo sets. But have regular coatings we could tweak.

You are absolutely correct. At first I wasn’t ok with someone suggesting a piece by piece coating system like destiny, but the more I think about it the more it seems like a good idea if the current coatings system is here to stay, which I’m sure it is because $$$.

It’s the best I think we can hope for, unfortunately. It would let 343i continue to monetize player color choice while providing players with real, unique customization options. Closest thing to “everyone wins” that we can get IMO…

Once again I agree. At least this way I can get something along the lines of black and blue for my colors instead of running around slate gray or solid blue. 343 has yet to make a coating that actually matches what I would want to wear.

one time purchase of a colour pallet that you can use extensively as you please on your war frames (think of them as different armour cores since they too like the cores are different suits for the person within), this pallet also extends to weapons, your personal ship, your rail jack, the interior of the ship, even your space mom.

the pallets in warframe are themed around seasons, weather, factions within the game and event colours, all freely applicable and mix and matchable on 4 overall bits of the frame itself.

Ok, from the sounds of it that doesn’t sound too bad, but I think the coating for each piece would be fine since we don’t have all the rest of that.

Something like
Core coating
Helmet coating
Right shoulder coating
Left shoulder coating
Knee/Leg coating

Maybe even make each arm and leg be individual pieces you can color with the addition of each shoulder and maybe knees.

The flaw with the coating system at current is that it is at best a alternate take on destiny’s shader system, which is pre-set colour combinations, compared to previous Halo games where we always had choice in our colour combinations, even if it was from two bits so to speak.

the coating system rn is just in the way of a potentially better system that if layered right can flourish like how Warframe has done it, splitting the flawed system up even further would just set the already raging inferno surrounding customisation into something damaging to a free to play experience given 343’s attempts at putting a greater focus on showing off yours and others spartans.

another alternative has been Anthem’s colour customisation system, which was pretty fantastic.

if they were to split it up with mass applicability from a “pallet” system, saaaaay:

Helmet
Undersuit
Chest
L Arm
R Arm
etc etc etc.

it could allow for better customisation in turn, though im unsure how that would work, even with the current coating system.

At this point I will just switch my spartan armor to be yellow if they don’t add a white coating.

I personaly think that they should have a base like a coating but you customize the colors. Like a camo coating and a normal coating.
