I will start this by saying Halo Infinite’s gunplay and balance is good. Lots of pro’s and I only tilt when I see my errors and skill gaps between players.
But what are we being spoon fed? Weekly events that are already broken down to keep player retention ,FOMO weeklies that rotate out permanently, shops with over priced trash that people happily throw their wallet at and a terrible campaign that is receiving expansions whether it be paid or not, a battlepass that gives you less 2x and challenge skips than most promo material or the fact that custom games are in such a poor state, with 8 maps that only represent the UNSC?
Yes the game is still fresh from its release and 343i have addressed issues regarding XP. Personally I wanted a resolution to Halo’s story, but it seems 343i want to drag it out with drip feeding lore in smaller content drops and scattered collectibles.
I wonder others where blind to the development of Halo or just squeezing every last drop before its abandoned for another project.

yes! when completing halo 3 on legendary you see a short scene, a mystery, that mystery should be for way longer, maybe at least a decade

Agreed. Imagine that we had just spent the last ten years playing spin-off games like ODST and Reach, and just now we are getting a trailer for a new game with Chief…
I would be so happy if they fully revoked/retconned Halo 4/5.

I was thinking this the other week. I think the series needed a bigger break and then the fact 343 came in as a brand new studio with something to prove also hindered the series with them changing things that didn’t need changing (Art style, loadouts, etc) and that had resulted in Halo losing it’s identity to some extent.
Now Infinite is them trying to bring Halo back to it’s roots after all of the mistakes with the previous titles and it’s been too much of a task for them and it’s left Infinite in the state it’s been in since launch.
I had high hopes for Infinite and it did deliver on somethings like some aspects of the campaign, the art style and the majority of the gameplay but the lack of content and community within the game itself is poor. I still have hope that this will improve but I always worry it’s too late. Halo had it’s chance to appeal to the masses again if it would have launched with the series X or even if it would have launched as a complete game but I think it might struggle to draw in big numbers again now.

that would give a really true spirit to everyone! then we would think woooow now the chief?!? i remember really long time when he was on that ship wooow now we see the future after so long time, and when they see the announcement, OOOH that was that mystery i saw, everyone would be more exploding after playing halo 3 and the games like odst and reach and wars after the great conclusion of 3 with the cool stories of those other games, this would be the moment, then everyone would feel very excited and i would like too that they would revoke/ retconned halo 4/5 and as josh told indeed until halo 3 we had a sort halo identity with the weapons and loadouts, often little changes and then the stories of other places, odst reach wars are great but since halo 4 it changed, everything was dedicated to mp, only obtainable armor from single player was… completing legendary…
that drove away the halo culture because the story and environments made this so great, multiplayer was an add on that became popular because people enjoyed and it went great but went out of bounds now with the crazy goofy cosmetics we see now. and indeed, the series should have bigger breaks, like between halo 2 and 3, everyone was like wooow halo 3 because it took years for the next halo to come, not its not longer than max 2 years before you see one or a ( mini ) shows up. i was also very excited when suddenly a new studio came and announced halo wars. that game is so good and with the environment and sounds and story that it became my favourite. ( and hw 2 ) which also surprised and amazed me how cool it is. hi is incomplete but it takes too long to restore it, people are not happy with that, as their lifetime passes by…

Frankly to me, presenting Halo Infinite as a Soft Reboot was like saying they should make classic Halo again without taking accountability for the failures of Halo 4 and 5.
If they just called Halo 4 and 5 “Fractures” they could make up some book to sell the lore of it as an alternate universe and 343 fans would buy it and eat it up, and classic Halo fans would be happy to see the universe restored to what it was.
Clearly 343 has learned a lot, and Infinite is clear evidence of that… but imagine if they had made Infinite without having to clean up the plots of 4 and 5? Imagine if Infinite started with Chief waking up on the Dawn to find Cortana had gone rampant and shut herself down, and ended up with Halsey making a new Cortana and the new cortana consuming the personality matrix of the original and becoming “her.” They could even make her like the Weapons character, younger and newer.
Agreed that Halo Wars 2 was amazing!
One of my other main frustrations about Infinite was that to me the trade off was supposed to be that we waited longer for it, and we wouldn’t get a new game soon, but we could get new content more often, and so far we haven’t. If the next campaign doesn’t come out for two years, then I’d rather go back to the old formula where every 3 years we got a new campaign, new MP, new graphics, new gameplay.
yes indeed! the newer games were looking so bad but when i play(ed) halo wars 2 i think wow this is really a cool game. indeed, the content at halo infinite takes too long, it takes way too long and if i want a cool pose it doesnt come out for maybe half a year, the bugs stick for eternal, and as you told josh i tought about that too XD when i played it just looked exact like halo 4, he woke up and at the end of the first mission he flies through the space just as what happened in halo 4, also the ship wreck, alarm and the destruction of the ship, master chief became mario in mario galaxy, but things go not the right way XD
