Yes, the one location we’ve seen thus far looks pretty good from the angles we’ve seen it at.

You’re so damn pessimistic man.
The Forerunner interior blew me away
Craig can finally grow a beard now xd
The design of the Forerunner structures looks strait out of Halo 2. Pleasantly surprised.

I’m very pessimistic. I remember playing a test for Halo 5 about one year before release. It still launched with many problems, and missing many features expected in a Halo game. Infinite would have launched last November, if it wasn’t for the huge community response. We have seen very little since. 343 has never come through at launch, and even years later, their games are just passable. IMHO

I mean, I like how the game is looking, but it’d be nice to see some footage or pictures of environments that aren’t all ripped from the Pacific Northwest. Forerunner interior stuff is neat, but nothing has really wowed me about it yet.
It looks so good. Much improvement from last year especially the AR. Lightning is just really awesome. I wish it could have more textures like AR to look more dirty a bit like reach but other than that it looks nice
It looks way less plasticky from the images that were released. We may not know what the rest of the game looks like, but that lack of plastic is a good start!
After seeing the new images from the upcoming Halo Infinite, this makes me even more excited to see the new Halo video games. I really can’t wait to see the gameplay footage from Halo Infinite.
It certainly looks better than it did, though I wouldn’t say its really wowed me on a shear technical level and honestly that’s okay. I don’t need Halo to be a bleeding edge game, it was the artistic direction that set it apart from other games and from what I have seen so far they have made marked improvements in that regard, but I guess we will see how it all pans out when we actually play it.
That being said, as pretty as the Pacific Northwest transplanted on to a Halo ring is, I worry about how diverse the environments are going to be and this a problem I largely consider to be the fault of the open worldish?(they are still really cagey on that point) nature of the game. Past linear titles let us zoom around different parts of the Halo ring to bring us various different biomes and it will be disappointed if we have to what for some potentially far off DLC for a desert biome or something along those lines.
Also I generally like how they have updated the AR’s textures, but can we please just lose the yellow stripe on the AR? Hated it in HR, hated it on the BR in H4/H5, hate it on the SAW. I know its an insignificant detail, but it still bugs me.

On the biome bit, I feel it’s important to remember that the game is still a bit away from release and most of, say, Halo 3s marketing material prerelease (including the boxart) was just of the Africa/Tsavo/Voi bits, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a similar case here

For gods sake just let us be happy about something for once, it doesnt have to be all doom and gloom 24/7

Ye because you decide what a Halo fan has to like and dislike, right?
See yourself out, man.

I never thought I could agree with both of two polarising comments and yet, here I am. You are both right?!?
The game looks pretty, I feel like it’s going to fit into that Skyrim category of graphics where the art and style is monumental and incredibly well realised, but the technical ‘graphics’ and ‘realism’ is very average. Personally I love seeing a fully realised “larger-than-life” world, and Halo is the perfect place for it.
I think it still seems to lack ambient occlusion. It seems like the crevasse between chief’s hand and gun as well as in the corners of the environment are lit unnaturally. This wouldn’t be a problem using raytracing but damn many people still aren’t able to use that so I hope that AO is added.

Huh? It does look great.
Also posted this in another thread, but I disagree to be honest, these new screenshots have a weird quality to them. Some things that stood out to me:
Lighting and shadows look very strange. Some shadows seem to be missing or aren’t logical (brute long shadow towards you, jackal zero shadow). Characters seem to float. Material shaders also look weird. Character models still look plasticky. Especially the brute design still looks terrible. Draw distance is also still not impressing me (loads of fog everywhere). Those trees man… The Hexagon pillars are still a baffling decision, absolutely grating to look at.
Extra EDIT: upon staring at these screens a little longer, I’m gonna have to say that people expecting a significant upgrade from Craig are going to be very, very disappointed come launch.
I just can’t wait to see it in motion again. I hope the demo they show off at E3 looks good so people can finally stop crying about the graphics, it’s so annoying.

Call it what you will, I’m just skeptical of what we’ve seen. I feel pretty similar about this game right now to what I felt before Halo 4 and 5, and that’s got me worried. I think it’s pretty reasonable to not be super trusting after the last 10 years of halo.
The bottom line for me is that as much as I appreciate the art direction, they’ve already mentioned the lack of biomes themselves, and I think it could easily ruin this game.
