halo infinite a new series or standalone game?

Would you like to see Halo Infinite be a trilogy,or even more games?Or would you like every new Halo have a different name from now on?

Personally I was real sad at the title Halo 5 Guardians. I’m truly hoping they change this to Halo 6 Infinite and then after that. Yeah new trilogies with no numbers. I want another ODST

I would say that Halo Infinite is Halo 6 just not exactly called Halo 6. I would also say that Halo Infinite is a continuation of the series instead of a standalone or a new series.

To clarify a few points, 343i took over and said they would be making the Reclaimer Trilogy. The scope expanded so it was renamed the Reclaimer Saga to include more games. Infinite is part of the saga. Reason for this new game not being called Halo 6 is because 343i wanted to unify the naming scheme for all forms of media. So, while the games are the focus of Halo and always will be, they will share the same naming scheme as the other forms of media like books and comics. Halo 5: Guardians was called as such to be like a stepping stone toward the new naming scheme, one without any numbers attached.

Halo: Infinite is going to be a soft reboot to the Halo franchise, so it’ll essentially be the start of a new series.

But at the same time its going to continue on from the story of Halo 5

Hence “soft reboot.”

I don’t mind if they ditch the numbers.
Might get confusing for some when they try making spin off games though.

I was hoping that all Halo games with Chief have numbers,preferably Halo 7 being the end of Chief’s story.If Halo Infinite will be the final name of the next game maybe it’s because the game will be much different than the previous ones,so it could be a start of new series with Infinite name.Or maybe it will be some live service game,which i hope is not the case.
