Halo infinite a hard pass from me

Maybe so, I haven’t played a ton, but I’ve been enjoying it but yes, I to have noticed things that need work. I’ve also been watching a lot of streamers having a good time as well with it… of course they see things that need fixing to, but I haven’t seen anyone down right say the game is bad except for on this forum. The complaints i’ve seen are mostly correctable. Games like this release and I draws in players who don’t typically play this style of game for a bit, they get bored and go back to BRs or whatever, so this is all expected.

A/D spam with no movement inertia is frustrating to track and a good portion of ranked players have already learned how strong it is. If that’s fixed then it would be easier to evaluate the sandbox. It might make AR less potent if tracking is easier.

I agree with many of these issues, but not enough to hard pass on the game. It is fundamentally so much closer to what I’ve wanted from the franchise since 343 took over that I’m willing to bear with it until the eventual balance changes come out.

Base RS controls need tweaking so moving your reticle around is smoother and more predictable in general, I think that’s a key thing that should be addressed before aim assist is. Even in other Halo games I’ve been able to fine-aim well past red reticle range, where aim assist no longer affects my weapon, and land consistent enough hits. In Infinite though? Good luck hitting anything at +20m with your Sidekick and +40 with your commando unless you’re on MNK.

Movement speed I really like. It’s movement acceleration that needs a tweak. Yes it feels nice to be able to strafe with ultimate speed and precision but it feels awful to shoot at. Having that split second of deceleration and acceleration during a direction change gives you the ability to “feel” an opponent’s strafe and track it with your own (Left stick/AD aiming basically) the way it is now you rely far, far more on RS and mouse movement to track targets than before and that is always super awkward in a Halo dance.

And there are some definite areas of the game that need more polish. Vehicles feel weird, everything in the game feels like it’s made of air instead of feeling “solid” if anyone else understands what that means when I say it etc. But these are all things I think will improve as the game gets updates.

For me I just do not like the BP system or how the personalization went backwards instead of forward,. The blanket armor coatings are boring and the fact that certain items only work on certain cores is terrible. Overall its a Halo game, but it feels like a Halo game for mobile instead of a full console game.

I agree with you guys on progression and customization. We need a lot more free customization and a consistent progression system. However, I am a beast with the mangler, therefore this game will live for 4 thousand years.

im mnk and i get swooped by controller aim assist. Its the strafe speed im telling u. It throws people off on both inputs because its that fast.

yesss i found this an issue playing on both inputs altho controller aim assist helps a lot more on pc (not console).

The mass of items in general might not be correct which might explain the physics issues. It’s like they adjusted the forces involved to get the desired output instead of getting the mass correct

i love the game, feels very halo to me. Things you mention can be easy fixes as well in custom games, or just fixed by playing ranked. The AR isn’t op its just actually good now. All the weapons work. Look back to any classic halo in mp, there are go to weapons always, the br is always used if you have it over the AR for example, but thats not the case in infinite, and the same can be said for many other weapons.
The new weapons are really fun and actually different, as apose to what we got for years, ie reskins of human weapons.
The only thing i understand that is bad is the grind of the BP. I personally not playing games to unlock -Yoink!-, i play to have fun, but understand that for others this is an issue, and from recent tweets from the dev leads is its being looked at…

Yeah I get that to a point. I personally thought the flights felt better. I mean the controller aiming is just messed up right now. I normally use controller but I am kinda forced to use M+K because controller just isn’t viable right now.

I HATE the battlepass system. If they charged three dollars for an armor set or something I’d say fine I don’t like it but I can compromise, the game is F2P after all but twenty dollars for some stuff? No that’s just wrong. WRONG. I kinda hate 343 for that at the moment.

Friendly fire and collision isn’t as big a deal for me, I can see the ups and downs to both. I actually prefer no player collision.

One thing I noticed that I haven’t seen anyone else talk about yet is the constant talking, the announcer chattering, the AI talking…THAT is annoying to me. It feels like some kind of cruddy sports game. I wish there was an option to turn it off.

for the last point, you can turn off all that chatter.

How? I don’t want all voice sounds to be off like grunts and stuff but I just want them to stop talking all the time.

played three games on the forced random ranked playlist, which makes no sense whatsoever. let us choose what game types we like. 343 seems to be very good at hosing the legacy left to them by bungie. but can’t say bungie has done anything groundbreaking since they gave up control of what used to be the greatest franchise. But I agree with you, Halo hasn’t felt like halo in a very long time. I hope it some how finds its way or I will not be wasting my time on it

im mnk but mnk isnt viable either. Close range fights are hard. I do hit my shots but a normal mnk player wouldnt be able to hit those shots. Controller is more suited to halo than anything imo.

I don’t see this. I don’t generally lurk here too much but I only really saw people complaining about bugs, OP AR, -Yoink!- feeling aim, and OP Ghost. Other than bugs, none of this has changed.

Magnum meta is just better, anyways. Sure it’s nice they tried giving the AR some love, but I’d rather fight with pistols going for headshots like you’re supposed to do in Halo then I would run around holding LMB like you do with the AR.

I really hoped this would be a great game, but it’s not. This thing is going to be DOA.
Just some problems include:

1.Bad maps
2.No dual wield
3.No team slayer matchmaking option
4.Bad gamepad aiming
5.Too sweaty
6.No vehicles on small maps
7.No forge
8.No campaign
9.Over powered AR

And you had an extra year. A whole extra year. Unbelievable.

Yeah H5 magnum fights felt pretty good once you got the aim down

Doubt we’ll ever get to try it on PC

“But this is just the beta” - The line that they wanted to defend them. I love how everyone is so grateful for the early release. How do people not realise that this early release was because the game is in a bad bad state and it’s less than a month until officially releasing, they have taken the sting out of it because the “beta” is something to hide the sloppy work behind then upon it officially dropping it won’t be such a shock.

That aside, it has potential but they try run before they can walk, they haven’t even perfected the mechanics of their main weapons (AR/BR/Pistol) but yet added a bunch of weapons that look straight out of Saints row 4. I just don’t think this company will ever learn, their logic behind the most simple decisions in Multiplayer is unbelievably flawed.

I’m not going to say it will flop, without a crystal ball, no one can know that however the Campaign needs to be great, not good or average, great. There’s still plenty of time for Multiplayer to be improved but judging by their past record, it will take years.

I went into this with very very low expectations because of who is behind it and I’m still disappointed. It’s unfortunately the way gaming is going these days, fans jump on the positivity wagon rather than be realistic and voice their opinions and while ever this is the case, they’re always going to feel good about releasing unfinished projects.
