I had completely forgotten that Halo 3 originally had 5v5 social, and to be honest I think it returning could work wonders on Infinite’s social scene. It’s a very distinct gameplay change that sets a match apart from ranked. More chances for multi-kills, more mayhem, more chaotic map control, and less coordination. I think one of the biggest problems with MCC is that there is virtually no difference between playing ranked or social, and with the games being up to 20 years old, I can see why most people would rather choose the option for smaller queue times rather than prove themselves to a small audience with their rank.
You’ll never be able to stop people from being “sweaty”, but I believe changing the team count for arena gamemodes in social could have a lasting positive impact to the game. Counter-Strike does a similar thing, its casual gamemode is truly just that: casual. The biggest reason being for the significantly larger player count in the match, which in its nature makes the match much more relaxed. Of course for Halo, I think adding 2 players is enough, we already have a big team battle mode lol
At the end of the day, I can always play 5v5 with bots though, so there’s that ;D
