First off I would like to say, well done. You nailed a lot of the old with the new kinds of halo games.
Positives:
Frag grenade physics
Plasma grenade aiming and sticks
Battle rifle firings equal to h3
Assault rifle firings equal to h2 h3
The running to aim time better than other halo games
The weapon testing center
The new weapons feel powerful and great
The menu look and feel and responsiveness
The sniper rifle got a extra bump in feeling of power too, which I love.
Controller support was native feeling like a xbox.
The UI looks clean
Negatives:
The menu took way too long to load (7 minutes)
The PC mouse and Keyboard inputs saw input lag higher than a controller.
The graphics settings from ultra to medium choke your computer no matter which setting, the graphics where NOT smooth on a 1070 SC 8gb and a ryzen 5 1600 with 32 gb of ram stored on a Vnand SSD.
I had issues with Nvidia Gsync with my Samsung rapid curve 240hz screen, it would flicker and have issues.
On a generic 120Hz screen it had better performance once locked to 60 fps/hz
The spike grenade physics don’t feel right when thrown, they have the same weight feel as a frag grenade, and in my estimation needs to be just like Halo 3 spike grenade weight and feel.
The rocket launcher feels way too different, im used to h:ce/h2/h3 feels of firings sounds and blast radius.
The gravity hammer needs to be fixed, there are times there is a two step motion before it “hits” this weapon feels undertuned and underpowered.
What could be better:
Locations of some weapons like the gravity hammer need to be in easier accessible areas to where you can actually get back to the map after picking it up.
The VoIP system needs help, you can’t mute other players and have to listen to their radio chatter all the time.
Your bots where very robotic or glitchy, at times they would run by you and then turn all the sudden and start shooting or a bot would have half their body one way and the other half looking at me and throwing a grenade at the wall acting like it was throwing it at me and wound up killing itself in the process. Othertimes it felt like the bots where cheating by killing me through walls and other things when I couldn’t even see them yet. In all the Halo games I have played the rule has always been “If I can’t see you, you can’t see me” and this was not the case.
The ending of a weapon center was lackluster and doesn’t feel like there is a reason to try 1 2 or 3 stars when there is nothing to gain out of the scoring system.
First thoughts of Halo Infinate:
Very good first stab at a collective vision of halo games and trying to get the right mix.
Last thoughts after playing a few days:
Fantastic and can’t wait to play the final product, this will be the best halo in a long time.
Many thanks to allowing me on your test flight for Halo Infinate!
Cheers from your fellow UNSC Spartan,
