The Halo Franchise is ever-growing and all-consummate (when we’re talking about our minds, of course) and, as fans, we sometimes forget about what really makes Halo HALO. There are many aspects of Halo that make it the wonderfully crafted, expansive universe we all know and love: from the in-depth, masterfully planned story and plot to the virtuously elaborate characters within it; it’s not hard to lose oversight as to how much collaborative work and effort is put into such a promised piece of work. The real world things that go into Halo, like the music and graphics, become an extension, not only of the story, but of ourselves, as well. These KEY components are what bridge the worlds between a work of art and a masterpiece.
Given that the Halo 4 OST Volume 2 set is coming out later this month; I thought it’d be nice to recognize how important the music that drives Halo REALLY is.
Reply with what Halo song(s) is your favorite, why it is your favorite, etc. Give credit to where it’s due (as in: thank those of whom are continuing the legacy of Halo’s score Neil Davidge and Kazuma Jinnochi as well as thank previous Halo composers Marty O’ Donnel for their commitment and part in making Halo what it is) and then share a story that you think of when you listen to your favorite Halo song(s). This thread should serve as a collaborative ‘THANK YOU’ to 343 Industries and their phenomenal Music team, as well as for past Halo musicians, from the Community.
This thread just fills me with sadness at all the OSTs that I dont own. (all of them)
I didnt much care for the OST for H4 myself, and thats probably a big reason why I didnt care for the game itself while playing it, but thats not to say it was bad either. There are plenty of games out there with (imo) terrible OSTs (Gears of War, im lookin at you) for the most part, and H4 was still a cut above the rest. I just didnt feel as drawn in to the story/game as I have with Halos of the past, but maybe thatll change with the next installment as I get used to the new direction.
Ill have to get a list of my favorite tracks from some of the games though and post it later. Ill prolly just pick one from each game or something, because there are far too many good ones for one post.
Revival - represents the didact perfectly a twisted and empty character, driven to insanity and hell bent on revenge
Now i dont know what this is called but - This song is amazing, it represents the prometheans well, homicidal death robots of doom and its also cool how they’re ancient humans and forerunners
And requiem and armour because i get these feelings of wonder, mystery and the unknown of whats ahead (also both fit well while reading the forerunner trilogy by greg bear)

Maybe it will be on the second OST? I know that track though, it’s awesome.
I personally loved a lot of the music from H3, best of which is the the covenant and the warthog run themes. Halo 4 had great music too, but next I would like a little bit more of those Georgian chants, similar to Revival.
Halo CE: Siege of Madrigal. While not technically played in the game at any specific point (that I can recall), this track is just beautiful, and the fact that its an easter egg makes it even more enjoyable.
Halo 2: Unyielding. I love the way this track gets my blood pumping, and I think its better than Reclaimer, which is the same track but with heavy guitar added.
Halo 3:This is the Hour. I really enjoy this track, and I actually got alittle giddy when they had it playing as the background for Lord Hoods assault on the Dreadought.
Halo 4: Revival. This track really makes me feel like there is some mystery in the Universe still, and its timing when its used in the game was just brilliant. It has a nice mix of feelings with it as a whole, such as awe and wonder. I would probably call this one of the best tracks in the game.
ODST: I dont really wanna pick a favorite for this game, but I must admit that I really enjoyed the soundtrack. I feel they really pulled off the whole mysterious/crime drama aspect of the game while you were running around the city at night as the Rookie.
Reach: I didnt care for most of the soundtrack for Reach that I can to remember, but I have to say I absolutely hated, HATED the end of the mission Winter Contingency. The track that starts playing when you and Jorge chase the Zealots is just terrible, and made me cringe when it started playing. The game does have some nice tracks, but even at its best, its just not that great.
