Halo, Humans and Forerunners (SPOILERS)

First off I’m quite new to Halo Waypoint, last time I posted I think was after Halo 3’s launch. Anyway I’ve been playing Halo since CE, basically was the game that got me into gaming. Now I’ve always enjoyed the campaigns and the lore. I’ve only read two Halo books (Fall of Reach, First Strike) and was never exposed to this idea of humans existing 100,000 years ago and being a galactic power besides some of the terminals and Halo 4. It may sound stupid but it feels like humanity’s history in the Universe it just to unreal to accept and I know I should be open because it is fantasy. But because of the close proximity of the years in our reality to the Halo events, I’ve always had the idea of humankind evolving similarly to humanity in the haloverse excluding the pre-advanced humans.

Sorry if this sounds like I’m being way to skeptical but I love the Halo Universe and this was just my quick thoughts this.

The Forerunner Trilogy (Cryptum and Primordium so far) has some details on Ancient Humanity.

While the Forerunners controlled pretty much the center and more of the galaxy, Ancient Humanity had been spreading along the edge.
We achieved a technological tier very close to that of the Forerunners, but the two species generally avoided contact.

The Flood was sent into Human territory, where eventually it went to war after infesting their animals. They allied with the San Shyuum against the threat, fighting the Flood. New data shows that while they began going into Forerunner territory for clean worlds, they cleansed the Flood from Forerunner planets as well.
The Forerunners, not knowing of the Flood, went to war with them.

The Flood retreated and Humanity fought hard, but the Didact defeated them. As a punishment, Ancient Humanity was completely deevolved.

Stripped of all their technology and dropped back on Earth, with the Librarian keeping some colonies on Halo rings. The Librarian took great interest in helping us recover and achieve greatness again. After the rings activated, Humanity was designated as the Reclaimers, we were destined to reclaim the Forerunner’s Mantle and protect the galaxy. Which is why Forerunner tech reacts to our touch.

Thats the story of Ancient Humanity as we know it. As said before, the Forerunner Trilogy goe sinto a bit more depth during the Humans deevolved time, and the Didact’s views on the more advanced Humanity. Think what you will, but I like the story. I don’t think its that far-fetched, that Humanity was once powerful in the galaxy.

I find it not so intriguing anymore. I’ve always enjoyed the tie in’s between our own history and humanity’s history in Halo. Having humanity in Halo as a once prominent species just doesn’t do it for me I guess.
