Halo Heatmaps

Application/Web Site title:
Halo Heatmaps

Description:
Halo Heatmaps is all about beautiful data. Emphasis is placed on graphs, charts, and colorful images instead of tables and lists of data, where appropriate. Halo Heatmaps enables players to view global trends of kills, deaths, sightlines, and KD spreads by map position and weapon. You’ll also find detailed data for individual players and matches, all in a format that is easily comparable with other players/matches.

What is the pool of data you are using for this PJ? Are these all playlists? Or a single playlist? Is this customs or arena? How often are the heatmaps refreshed?

Anyway, wonderful job man. The main thing that caught my eye especially was seeing the K/D spread heatmap. I would have never thought of that and I hope somebody implements that for custom maps in the future with CAPI.

As it stands now, the data comes from all Arena playlists. Super Fiesta pulled in a lot of random weapons which have a smaller sample size, but I decided to publish them anyway. Eventually, I want to be able to filter between specific playlists, gametypes, team color, etc. I plan on updating the maps each season. It’ll be interesting to visualize the effects of the map tweaks 343 has been making.

Thanks. I used to use halo 3 heatmaps to figure out high traffic areas and choke points. Now with the k/d heatmap I’ll have a better understanding on where to rotate the power weapons when I know which direction players will be pushing from.
