Halo Hate?

been seing a bit of misinformation spread around about infinite

it’s kinda sad how people want to cash in on negative press that isn’t even true

Negative news generally gets more clicks. More clicks, more money.

I worked in games journalism for a short while and I’ve gotta say a lot of reporters will take any small topic and stretch it just for the sake of “news”.
Considering Gamespot have reported a lot of false news about Infinite I don’t really trust much what they report.
Generally smaller outlets give better news due to them caring less about the money and more about content.

Sadly Infinite is in the spotlight due to it being a very make it break moment for the franchise. News outlets want to try keep Infinite looking on edge as it benefits their narrative

Honestly I wouldn’t even bother reading Gamespot news due to the fact all they do is write up false news

Not sure about Gamespot with false news. They have a habit of giving information fairly ok but sometimes I think they just misread what’s been said and/or are too lazy to check what there reposting before sending out a new repost on FB to check if the old posts are up to date. I feel like the news they’ve have posted has been hit and miss but there nowhere near as bad as the ‘Express’ which does nothing but lies and clickbait. Anyway I think their FB page is more clickbaity than their Twitter page.

> We still suggest using the good dual-wielding plasma pistol and conventional ammo weapon combination.

Apparently Gamespot is confirming dual wielding as well? This article was worthless, just someone rushed to meet a deadline and obviously has no real information besides misinterpreting the “inside infinite” post.

Also, did I miss something? What did the second link have to do with Halo?

Gamespot is known for their crappy practices, and I wouldn’t really trust anything that didn’t come straight from the dev’s mouths because 90% of game “journalism” is just conspiracy theories like this Gamespot article. I didn’t really find anything from the article about the PS+ free games.

OP certainly shared the wrong link, but someone else posted news from that comicbook.com website about Halo Infinite which was saying pretty much the same thing that the Gamespot article claimed.

Any news about Infinite should be obtained straight from the horse’s mouth here on 343s website. I don’t go anywhere else anyway because all of these gaming sites scramble for any bit of info they can grip and harp on the insignificant parts. It takes them days just to make useless clickbait anyways.

Games Journalism is a sham and games journalists are hacks.

That link isn’t working for me. What did they say in the article?

They said that the bulldog is not a substitute for the 8gauge og shotgun. Basically what 343i said in their update recently. I don’t see this as hate. Just copy paste of the same info 343i has posted

Didn’t 343i say it is a substitute essentially if they thought the shotty was ineffective and replacing it with the bulldog. I agree that it isn’t a substitute though, it sounds different enough that they could’ve had both.

If I remember correctly, they said it was a new type of weapon placement in the sandbox. Somewhere between the og shotgun and the smg. They specifically said it wasn’t a substitute for the shotgun. But they gave no mention of what IS the substitute for the og shotgun.
Basically the bulldog is a weapon that they want to be a picked up more. So like say how the BR or SMG are on a map, it would be like that rather than the og shotgun which was in the same class of power weapon as the rocket or shotgun.

I mean, that wasn’t really negative press. The article was pretty neutral on the topic. Though you could tell the writer hasn’t played a Halo game since 3 as he still thinks dual wielding is a thing.

As far as the Bulldog is concerned, I kind of get it. The Shotgun has always been hard to really define as a true power weapon in Halo, but it also clearly stood a cut above the base spawning weapons for it’s one-hit-kill capability. The Bulldog seems to be 343’s way of adding a Shotgun that is a more common weapon type. It probably won’t be capable of landing a one-hit-kill on enemies like the old Shotgun, but it will make up for it with a much tighter projectile spread, longer hitscan range, and higher spawn-ammo count.

Where in past Halo games the shotgun was less a playstyle and more a ‘pocket weapon’ for the CQC encounters you do find yourself in, the Bulldog aims to be an actual playstyle, something you can reasonably use as your primary weapon so long as you have the ammo. The only question that leaves me asking is, why couldn’t something like this just be done to the old shotgun? Halo CE’s shotgun would have fit this role very well in every other Halo game, as they lacked the raw power and domination of the CE magnum, as it seems like the Bulldog is being designed very similarly to it anyway.

Anyway pretty well the explanation for why they wouldn’t have both is the existence of the Sword and Hammer. Those weapons operate in the same plane as the classic shotgun, the “pocket cqc weapon” role. So having the Bulldog AND the M6 Shotgun would just lead to the Shotgun, Sword, and Hammer creating sandbox redundancy with eachother as they have been doing for nearly 17 years now.

Oh so there actually is a chance we could have the regular shotgun as more of a power weapon alongside the bulldog as more of a common pick up weapon? I was under the impression the bulldog was replacing it. I hope that’s the case because I really like the regular shotgun.

this is why i shared these false/rushed articles well we haven’t gotten confirmation of the OG shotgun being in the game is almost certainly will be in they wouldn’t make a weaker version as a new weapon and not put it’s big brother in also consider that the shotgun power weapon has been a stable in halo since CE and while it has gone thru some changes it has remained THE SHOTGUN for it’s life time in this game who know maybe it’ll come back even stronger? We have no clue how they are balancing TTK only that they are keeping it in mind as they make these things

343 has already said there are no plans to add the OG shotgun or magnum to the game, at least not at launch.
