Halo has GOOD matchmaking numbers

I was just playing Bo2 yesterday morning and there were 171k players online, we all know that it sold millions more than h4 even on xbox while halo at the same time had around 120k. going into the afternoon (around 2-5 pm) it had 450k while halo had around 200k-250k players.

My point? CoD a mainstream game, doesn’t even break the 1m mark at the best of times though it sold probably double that of h4, while halo has comparable numbers, with CoD stealing many of the “casual” players from Halo. Halo has good pop #'s just becuase it isn’t as high as h3 or h2’s (which people often forget didn’t have much competition, especially h2) doesn’t mean halo is dying, people just have more choices this time around so of course you’re going to see lower pop #'s.

The numbers arn’t that bad at all considering all of the blockbuster games that came out at around the same time. Also so many people probably chose to get Blops 2 on launch and Halo 4 for Christmas. If they can iron out the kinks by then it will do very well in the new year.

I’m tired of people letting nostalgia blind them and saying Halo is dead, Halo 4 has blops 2 AND AC3 competing with it for players, these numbers are really good. I went into blops expecting to see 1m players online only to see 170k, Halo isn’t dead, we just have a bunch of idiots running around on these forums.

great topic people need to see this, Too much crying about how bad it sucks and all this etc. a few of my friends playing halo 4 is unable to get into multiplayer or spartan ops however i’m playing spartan ops how did this not affect me?

Halo 3 had competition too, yet it was the most played game on LIVE for 2 years upon release. I dont know if the counter was accurate, but Halo 3 peaked at 1.4 million players, something H4 will never do and something Blops 2 hasn’t even done yet and might not.

But not comparing it to Halo 3, any game that gets 100K-300K players has “good” population numbers. I wish Quake would get half that since that is the FPS I play now that Halo is not a pure shooter like it was.

I don’t know, but don’t jinx yourself, next thing you know you’re having problems yourself.

Yea, but h3’s competition wasn’t nearly as big as h4’s CoD wasn’t launching withing a week of it and AC didn’t launch a week before. CoD wasn’t nearly as popular as it is now, and AC didn’t even exist, plus the hype surrounding h3 was amazing cause people wanted to see how it all ended etc. It was literally the biggest launch of the year, nothing could compete, so what I said was accurate.

I LOVE Halo 4. By far the BEST Halo online yet.

Having said that, the population could be lot better.

The daily XP cap I am fine with. I’ve only hit it one time and I play 4-5 hours a shot at times. So if a person is hitting that cap a lot, they need to stop using the Dew double XP, or simply stop and go outside. You are endangering your health. This is not a joke. A guy died by playing Reach for hours on end.

But having a level cap is just plain dumb. Or bump up it by 10 every 2 weeks. I’m a 66 and I played maybe 4 hours in last 5 days.

I am so tired of “CoD has more people playing it!!1!” Topics.

Is there even a point to be made about this anymore? Other than “CoD has more people playing it” ?

I have a feeling most of these people aren’t even Halo fans, and just know how to get this community going crazy so they abuse that power.

Halo 3 - 9/25/07
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare - 11/5/07
Assasins Creed - 11/13/07
Gears of War 2 - 11/7/08
Call of Duty: World at War - 11/11/08
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - 11/10/09

Those are just some of the biggest, there were other games that were popular like GTA, rockband/guitar hero. Halo 3 had PLENTY of competition, and it held the #1 spot for TWO YEARS.

H4 can’t even hold it for a week.

Well you have to remember that both CoD and AC have gotten much more popular since then. In fact those two with Halo 4 are the best selling games of this year I believe, and there are way more copies of them sold now than their previous titles back then.

But yes H4’s population even with all this should be higher, I’m hoping it’ll go up after the holidays and some patches.

So just write off any good arguments or ideas they can develop on the basis that ‘nostalgia is blinding them’? If people like you honestly believe that then you are right, we do have a bunch of idiots running around on these forums.

The old style Halo is dead and that is frustrating for those who enjoy it.

The counter on Halo 3 is broken. One time is showed 1.1 BILLION online in one playlist. Somebody took a picture: Picable – Images Done Right

Why do you have to take things to the next level? Did I say anything like that? no, I didn’t, There are plenty of people here that want halo 3.5 with the same exact features just updated graphics, that’s it. Those are the ones that are letting nostalgia blind them. I love how you develop all that from just one, very vague statement I made. The way you’re acting further proves that there are a bunch of idiots running around.

Oh, btw, the way you just wrote off what I have to say and made a generalization about me shows how hypocritical you are. (see highlighted sentence.)

keeping this alive, cause if it was negative it would be in the front for hours

The counter “broke” some time after release. It was accurate for a while, though it might have counted players that todays counters do not.

I seem to remember Bungie stating that Halo 3’s counter counted everyone signed on in Halo 3, including lobbies, searching players, etc…whereas now it only counts players in an actual game. I am not sure though, yet even so…100-300K vs 1.4 million…

Yeah, because, you know, this chart speaks for itself. http://www.halocharts.com/2012/chart/totalpopulation/all

People need to stop making excuses about the population. If the game is good, and the MASSES agree, people will play it. End of story.

Um… did you not read my thread? I even stated that CoD has pretty low nubers even though it almost doubled Halo 4 sales. Halo is doing good, stop saying it isnt.

And Halo 4 counts matchmaking only. Just so you know, IDK about BO2 though.
