Halo has always kept my attention span... [Ultimates] [Ideas] [Feedback]

One thing I will say… I am loving the game. I love halo, so everything I am about to say, comes from a place of…

"I want this game to continue to succeed, and be online and updated forever."

I don’t plan on playing non-casual just to get an emblem on my body, which my armor will cover up anyway. So I have a few ideas…

If you want people to play consistently, maybe the following challenge rewards will be enticing enough to keep us all around until other game modes, fixed custom settings, co-op and forge are released.

  • Weapon skins
  • Visor skins
  • Different paints for our armors
  • Armour effects
  • Bullet kill effects.
  • Auras

P.S - Emblems are fine and all, but you can’t even position them where you want…

And if you’re worried about the $$$ you could bring in otherwise… Then simple. Make a premium, and a free version of each ultimate reward. If you have the premium pass, you will unlock both upon completing the ultimate challenge. If you get the premium pass later (maybe you can get the premium versions of the free ones you unlocked).

The whole point of doing an ultimate is to unlock something kicka** that we can then show off in game. How are we supposed to show off boring emblems, that are hard to see.

I would much rather grind through challenges, to show off my ultimate rewards, than my season pass content.

You could probably scrap the entire season pass content, and randomize each challenge with free and or premium rewards.

Challenges [1 through 10]
XP, XP, Challenge Swap, Visor, Lame Paint, XP, Cooler Paint, Challenge Swap, Weapon Skin, Vehicle Skin
Ultimate Challenge
Helmet? Visor? Skin? Armour / Kill Effect?

[Freemium Version and Premium Version of Each?]
[Miss every one or 2 challenges to give some spacing…]

Of course, keep the season passes, but add more behind the way of completing challenges. And make it tiered? Put like a huuuuuuge pool of content behind it. If you complete an ultimate challenge, the next week challenges get tiered up, meaning your content gets better, but challenges get slightly harder. If you miss it, then you drop back down a challenge tier. That way, you can really show off your skill, with the look of your character, and I think people who be hooked until your new releases. Heck, I could program this in a week or less, so I don’t get it?

I was also a little dissapointed in the event, just passed. I had about 7 or 8 event challenges to complete. Nice and easy, but I got no more, so I wasn’t able to fully complete the event this month. I do get that the point of the event is to carry over to February, but what if the same thing happens, and I am unable to get the full set of rewards - anyway, guess that’s on me.

In regards to challenge feedback, I was able to clear through the challenges at a reasonable pace. Little bit of a grind here and there. Free-for-All annoyed me, I always seem to get 200+ ms ping, and can’t for the life of me get kills.

Also, “Ending 5 Killing Sprees” in Fiesta, was a huge pain. I was either - in a team good enough to not let enemies get any killing sprees. Or were up against teams either super good, or with much better ping. I didn’t make it because of this challenge being the last one to unlock right before the deadline.

Cosmetics and challenges aren’t for everyone tho. I don’t even pay attention to challenges and would never buy anything from the store. Sure I would like some cosmetics here and there but over all those additions will only help so much. To some it’s already a lot to see in multiplayer

Just some ideas until everything is more as imagined is all. To keep everyone here.

If I feel like I am actually working towards something while playing. I will continue to play and I am sure many others will too. The game is fun, but I have a feeling that a lot of people who are holding out for content that isn’t here yet, i.e infection, co-op, forge etc… are going to get a little bored by the time they come out.

With the rising competition in game choices, you really have to compete in as many ways as possible to keep a player base. 343 haven’t had to complete with a new game in a little while. This could be a bit of a shock if some other game gets announced that gets hyped out of nowhere. I think they <343> are doing a fantastic job with this release. It’s understandable to me being a developer, the need for the delays. The multiplayer is a complex feat to accomplish, but the forge mode, woah, if the rumors are true, I have built node systems before, and they are gonna wanna do it right! So good on them.

They are just my thoughts, but if there was a steady flow of unlockables, I would at-least be wanting to tune in all the time to play. If the game falls a little, I think these ideas could have helped if not implemented is all. Literally all the people I know who play any game, is interested in the cosmetics. How cool can they make there character look. If they can’t do their character up, they classify it as a different type of game, and will only literally play it casually.

The sad part is. I come to Halo to get away from the cosmetics in other games.

On top of that I want to play for something. When Halo 5 came out I had a glint in my eyes because there was so much to learn with the movement abilites. Halo infinites base gameplay is something I already know from any other shooter so there really isn’t an incentive to get better other than getting a high rank. Couple that with the lack of maps. Lack of weapons. And lack of gamemodes Im almost forcing myself to play the game. All my friends play Halo so it’s not like I can just put it down for another game. On the flip side when my friends get bored they go to a different game. Me and my friends get bored quick. We still come back to it here and there but there really isn’t anything to come back for

I did always like the fact halo was standard (in-a-way) customizable. Going back to the ‘Recon Helmet Days’. Half the add-ons I never did like, and most of the customization’s now I don’t like either. As is, my current spartan looks like a Grey Version of Chief, with a Blue visor and I am happy with that.

I’d love to get some cool weapon skins, but I wish for a little more variety on whether I decide if I like them or not.

Your friends and you sound like you all do what me and my friends do. I’ve studied for so many years successfully game development strategies, windows and releases, because I thought me getting bored of games was weird. Thought maybe I needed to create my own game to make a point that every developer is missing.

Perhaps once the forge mode comes out (if the rumors are true) it will give you all something to come back to. I just honestly can’t wait for the custom game scene to really kick off and have some fun. As much as I loved playing halo to be good and get better, the one part of Halo I always loved more than any other part (aside from story) was playing Duckhunt, or Rockets, or just stupid fun custom games that we made our own maps for, or that we modified the settings in weird ways to test out.

At the moment, my favorite thing to do is going to training camp, turning bots on to spartan, and turning on play fighting, then trying to no scope them lol. I spend more time doing that then I do actually playing the game.
