People who are screaming and crying to bring back the old Halo, do you honestly think that Halo would survive in today’s market if it had stayed the same for more that ten years? Only adding new guns, vehicles, and armor?
If you ask me, that sounds EXACTLY like what Cod did. And the ironic thing is that people who say that it’s becoming too much like Cod are asking for just this very sort of thing.
You people who are asking for just that need to stop being so obsessed with living in the past, and face the changes that are being made to Halo. Be glad that Halo is still even alive. All good things must come to an end, because better things come along.
So, I tell you this, Halo has adapted, why haven’t you?
Adapt? Or do you mean shove stuff down my throat that I don’t appreciate.
Call me a complainer or whatever you like but I play halo for its balanced sandbox; with the recent news of specialization; Naturally I become increasingly disgruntled to hear of a less balanced and smooth experience that I have known to love.

I have adapted. I just preferred how it was before.
The gimmicks are heading in the direction of CoD, not the lack of change throughout games in the series. Reach made some serious alterations and it took a turn for the worse statistically. I am by no means saying this is what’ll happen, but it has me a little bit uneasy. We’ll just wait and see.
OP this only going to rile up people. Better left alone than trying to question them about their adapting skills. Haven’t we been doing this since Game informer lol.

if by shove down your throat, you mean develop a video game that people willingly buy, then yes.

Right because games cant sell at all if they stay the same. People want a complete rehaul everytime. I mean just look at COD, it stays the same and hardly anyone plays it.
Oh and thank god it progressed, its improving like alot of things in todays society. Take music for example:
> So, I tell you this, Halo has adapted, why haven’t you?
I can explain this in a simple manner to you. Halo was an Arena Shooter. Arena Shooters are great for competitive play. Now it is in the transition of being either a class based shooter or squad based shooter. These two sub-genres are not great for competitive play. They aren’t 100% balanced, that’s why. Now, everyone you see complaining on the forums is a competitive player. They want to go to Halo tournaments and or see Halo tournament streams and look forward to possibly one day going to these events. Halo 4 just shut all that down. There won’t be Halo tournaments unless someone like MLG miraculously makes the game competitive. I’m not just spewing my own opinion here, this is factual information. Whether you believe in fact or continue to believe a fantasy is your choice.
I’m going to end on this though: You say that “that sounds EXACTLY like what Cod did” when talking about how the game should “adapt”. So you’re saying that CoD stays the same with each new iteration? Well, to much surprise, CoD is the best selling console shooter series to date. Interesting fact.

Let me ask you this. Are you also against the Tactical/Support Packages?
We have no proof to say the same Halo wouldn’t survive in today’s market. It is not like it is a new IP. Some people want to build on it’s success, rather than change it to what is selling.
If someone didn’t like Halo, it is not because it was an arena shooter.

Who cares? Halo will still be Halo and never be anything like Call of Duty. I don’t understand why people keep bringing up CoD like it invented everything. It’s starting to become a bad habit, in fact it already is!
We shouldn’t need to adapt our view of “fun.” The Halo view of “fun” is completely fair, even gameplay in which everyone starts equal. CoD view of “fun” is reckless destruction and easy pickings (not fair/equal starts). Halo 1, 2, and 3 were obviously fair. If there were any equipment that was overpowered in Halo 3, it didn’t matter because they were pickups and not given right off of the spawn, like a power weapon. Reach was fair, because even if a few AAs were overpowered, you had access to the same ones your enemy did, and if you were using a different one that’s your fault.
Halo 4 isn’t fair, because those who rank up quicker (spend more time playing) will have an edge over those who don’t play as much, regardless of skill. And it’s not just specilizations, it’s weapons, AAs, and anything else you get to customize after unlocking that affects gameplay.
This isn’t our view of “fun,” and one cannot adapt one’s view of “fun” because “fun” is not a habit, it’s an ingrained view of things. So Halo has left us completely behind. It’s not that we don’t want Halo to adapt or change, it’s that we want it to keep the guiding philosophy behind it of fairness.
That said, I’m not particularly worried about Halo 4. Everything seems to be small advantages that shouldn’t be gamebreaking, and there’s enough there that is Halo (movement speed, jump height, etc.). I look forward to Halo 4 with great anticipation, but it worries me what will happen to the rest of the series.

hardly anyone play it?(COD)
Then why is it at the very top of the XBL charts. That statement is totally OVERSTATED

When they bring up CoD, they arent talking about who invented anything. They are talking about the uniqueness of halo. If they wanted to play a game with default sprint, perks, progression systems, riot shields, kill streaks, then theyd go play CoD. I myself want to play a arena shooter on the 360, ask yourself where do the people like me go now?
