So, prior to me writing this thread, I would like to acknowledge that no, not everything relies solely on someone’s K/D ratio. However, this is not the purpose of this thread.
I would just like to draw attention to the difficulty of maintaining a “good” K/D in Halo. Compared to other games (BF:3, CoD: MW3, CoD: BO2, etc…), Halo is an entirely different entity in terms of mechanics.
4 shots anywhere, 1 to the head. That may as well be the UNSC’s motto, as that’s what everyone should know. Of course, this simple rule is easily manipulated by more than just what weapon someone has.
It’s really all a numbers game!
Example: In Call of Booty or Battlefield 3, you can literally take out three people with one assault rifle magazine. In H4, you have very little chance of being successful with killing any of them. Why? Because three people shooting at you will have you dead in the equivalent of you firing two shots (provided these people make their shots). There’s strength in numbers my friends. Even if you’re MLG pro l33t haxx XXsniperproxX, there is an extremely high chance that you will lose in a 2 on 1 situation. Of course there are exceptions, but for the most part, 2 > 1.
With this being said, along with other mechanics of the game I won’t delve into, I’ve come to the conclusion that Halo is the most difficult, current FPS being played right now maintain a solid K/D.
I’d say anything above 1.1 - 1.2 is good for a player who only plays with randoms. Just my opinion (mine is 1.5, I’ll save you the trouble).
Anyway, thoughts? Disagree? I really hate up bringing other games, but for the sake of the thread, reference was necessary.

Added in the comments section. I forgot to mention this. My first 5-10 games of H4 I had 25+ kills with below 10 deaths. Once trueskill kicked in, things changed a whole lot quicker.
