Halo Glasslands.

Hey guys. I’m thinking of getting this book and I just wanted to hear some opinions on the novel before I make a descision. It would be much appreciated!

It’s a direct continuation of Ghosts of Onyx so if you’ve read that one and enjoyed the storyline, then you should read it.

In my opinion, it wasn’t the greatest halo novel but the storyline is shaping up to be pretty epic and will likely lead directly into the new Halo game trilogy.

So, I would recommend it for the storyline if nothing else.

I’ve read Ghosts of Onyx and really liked nylund’s style of writing. Does the author of Glasslands compare? thanks by the way.

Karen Traviss is probably more famous for writing the Gears of War novels, which are also good. In all, you won’t notice too much of a difference in the writing so much as the story.

This is the first book of a new series and it is pretty obvious. It lacks much of the action that Halo novels have become known for but it really opens up the storyline for all kinds of possibilities and I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what she was trying to accomplish.

The next book will most likely be nothing but action and I can’t wait.

Just wondering: You’ve read Fall of Reach and First Strike, right?

Nylund penned both of those and those are both really good books.

For me, it was my least favourite out of them all. Altough it was very well written, there are a few errors in the book and alot of people think Karen Traviss didn’t look into Halo’s Canon as much (I don’t think thats the case, though she certainly avoided some canon).

I would very much preferred Eric to have written Glasslands, but it’s still worth getting to keep up to date with Halo’s story.

Alright dude, thanks for your time! I’ll get Glasslands.

I also felt as if Traviss was very one sided in this book, and she made a few characters into something they’re not.

She didnt, she said herself that she has never read halo nor played it.

I liked it, but there were a few things in it that bugged me. I would definitely read it, though.

she also said she had a lot of fun playing everything and reading everything, and thanking Roosterteeth for the help with learning about Halo

If you are interested in the Halo Universe then you should get it, just don’t expct it to be brilliant.

Ha, thats true.

I really like it.

I loved it. It’s a little slow at times, but that’s to be expected from the first part in a trilogy. I think it does a great job of introducing the characters, and sets up for an epic, action packed 2nd and 3rd books. Also, it’s got a couple of flat out awesome reveals on bits of information about the main Halo universe.

You might as well read it. Frankly I hated it aside from a few parts.
