Halo Games on PC

On a scale of 1 - 10 how much do you want 343/Microsoft to release Halo titles for the PC? Now it may not be up to 343, I generally think that they love Halo so much that they’d make Master Chief cereal with blue Cortana marshmallow bits. I really just hoping that they could re-release Halo 2 for PCs that don’t run Vista. I’m not all that computer savvy and I can’t even get the game to install on my Window’s 7 Machine. Anyway, are you guys hoping for more PC support from 343?

While I love the modability of Halo games on PC (well, for Halo 1 and Custom Edition anyway), they just don’t offer the same multiplayer experience as they do on Xbox.

On consoles, I can sit back on my couch and play the game while chatting with some friends since we all have mics. If it were on PC, I wouldn’t be able to do so due to nobody having PC mics.

I dunno, as long as the games would be as modifiable as Halo 1 and Custom Edition were on PC, then I would probably get them. If they’re not (which is more likely, seeing as how Halo 2 Vista was less than great in that way), then I’d pass and get them on the Xbox.

If Halo released on the PC, Microsoft would loose out in allot of Xbox 360 sales. People who own Nintendo wii’s, PS3’s and other consoles would have no reason to switch to the Xbox 360. It will never release for PC.

I don’t want it to release for PC because then the Xbox 360 version could be less popular and I’d have no reason for an Xbox 360 (Three Xbox 360’s in fact :l)

> If Halo released on the PC, Microsoft would loose out in allot of Xbox 360 sales.

That is a BS reason.

Xbox has many things going for it. Like the fact that PC version would require some high end PC specs to run, something that doesn’t cost less than $400, which by the way THE XBOX IS CHEAPER THAN BUYING/BUILDING A PC.
Also, Xbox has more things than just Halo that make it sell, like the Kinect games, and some of the extra media stuff like Netflix, Hulu, Videos on Demand, Arcade, and Indy games.

I tend to agree with this point. I don’t think Microsoft would loose money on PC release at all. Although, the other point about not having mics and whatnot is very much valid as well. I’m thinking mostly of Halo 2. Halo 2 as we all know doesn’t have Live support any longer. But if it were on PC (a more updated version) then you could play it online again (albeit not as easily). I guess I’ll have to hold out until 343 remakes Halo 2 in HD…please…Frankie you listening bro?

Jesus Christ, are you guys gamers or marketing people from Microsoft? I would love Halo on PC again because of various reasons but mainly for teh modz, but as others have said that is mostly up to Microsoft. I think Halo is one of those games where cross-platform play could even be possible.

Cross-platform multiplayer? That won’t work. The mouse is way more accurate than a controller.

I would love to see Halo 3 make a PC appearance. We already have Halo: CE, Halo: Custom Edition, and Halo 2 Vista, so there’s no reason to do those. It definitely would not detract from the players on the Xbox and PC players would love Microsoft for it (as long as it doesn’t require Windows 8). I think the main reason we won’t see it happen is because 343i is focusing on the future of Halo, and probably aren’t looking to split off the team to work on an older title and support it.

True, but Halo is not one of those shooters where using Kb+M is automatically better, encounters are usually not decided by first shot or twitch shot reactions it is the quintessential console shooter because of this. Here is an example of some Halo PC gameplay Now this is probably not the best example, but are you telling me the average PC player is going to somehow inherently be better at a non-PC FPS franchise than the console Halo player who can basically aim and move as good as him with the controller as he can with the mouse? I play Halo 2 Vista occasionally and used to play Halo PC and I did not find the mouse to have an inherent advantage over the controller in a shooter like Halo. I am sure other shooters such as Gears, could also be cross-platform with minimal difference due to the way the game mechanics work.

I’ve moved on to PC Gaming because I find the experience a lot better than a Console. The only thing I’m missing out is Halo. Sure, we have Halo Combat Evolved / Custom Edition and Halo 2, but that isn’t enough. I would like Halo 3, ODST, Reach, Halo 4 to be on the PC.

Agreed. Plus, It would cause a very un-balanced Multiplayer between Xbox 360 Players and PC players.

How? Some Xbox players honestly play Halo better with the controller than they do with the mouse, until you show me otherwise I am not convinced that a mouse would be a huge advantage in Halo its not CS, most encounters are not based on twitch shooting. I was watching Sudd 2 who is an AM Halo player using his controller to play H2 vista and he was destroying everyone. Everyone just assumes that ALL FPS cant have cross-platform play when shooters like Halo and GoW could pull it off with minimal advantage at best.
Besides Shadowrun already implemented cross-platform with mild sucess
