I would narrow it down to 28 maps for Halo 5 Guardians if being fair. You honestly cannot count the 3 warzone assault maps at launch as actual maps if being fair. Additionally Breakout Arena is on Parallax so that kind of is one thing rather than 2 things. But its impressive that H5 has the highest map count, which was even achieved in less than a year and we still have more maps incoming to further increase the map count. I hope H6 can bring out the same dlc map count as H5 did in this period

while I agree on the first 3 WZA maps for the most part, while BOA has a similar skybox to parallax the forgeable are is very different.
Also its important to note how many remakes exist in other Halos. Over a third of Halo Reaches maps were remakes.

Reaches firefight maps (except for 2) were just pulled strait from the campaign. Unlike the multiplayer maps that were made for multiplayer and then used in campaign the FF maps work the same in campaign as they do in FF.
I think Halo 5’s problem is less to do with the actual map count and more to do with lack of game types and the perceptions regarding certain types of maps. (Lots of people not being keen on remixes and Assault variants based on the core WZ maps, along with BTB maps being made up in Forge).

Halo 5 currently has more game modes then any Halo other then Reach. LINK. And even without the remixes it still has 22 Maps. And considering the most maps ever in a Halo was 25 thats not a bad count.
Blue Planet - Halo Ring - Exosphere - Ascendance (DLC) - Edit:Holy crap I just google searched and found out they were the different skyboxes. Did not know this.

They are the variants of Parallax, in Halo 5 they are grouped as one map but the precedent set by Halo 2A is that different skybox maps count as separate maps. I did not use them in my count but I did feel they were worth listing.

Thats still more then Halo 2, 3 and Reach.
The remixes can play very differently from each other, to the point where I have seen people love a map while disliking its remix.

This doesn’t discredit them from the count. They took up memory space that could have been used for multiplayer maps. Reach’s launch count of maps including FF maps is 16 give or take a few miscounts off the top of my head.
Honestly Halo 5 feel like it has fewer maps because there is a lack of maps in Arena. Halo 2/3 had more maps at launch than Halo 5 currently has in 4v4 playlists.

Some of those are BTB maps though.
CE had 8 “arena” maps, 5 BTB
H2 had 6 “arena” maps, 6 BTB
H3 had 8 “arena” maps, 3 BTB
HR had 6 “arena” maps, 2 Invasion
H4 had 4 “arena” maps, 6 BTB
H5 had 8 “arena” maps, 3 Warzone
though admitently Halo 3 and 4 did use some of their BTB maps in 4v4.

Arena is different than 4v4. Arena is only small maps. Halo 2 and 3 had Arena and larger maps in 4v4 playlists. This is what I am getting at. Halo 2 you played 4v4 on Terminal, Relic, etc. and on Halo 3 you played on Rat’s Nest, Standoff, etc. What happened to playing on these larger maps? Halo 5 has a lack of maps in any given playlist because they have separated them instead of combining the ones that can work for other playlists. The Halo 3 Standoff remake can work as a Team Slayer map, and so can the Headlong remake. Also since the focus on was 4v4 playlists, that is where most of the maps were played. There was usually only 1-2 maps that were only exclusive to BTB like Containment and Waterworks.

Yes, yes it is.
Making one map bad and then fixing it’s issues in v2 is a terrible way to make a map.
