I don’t know where else to put this thread in so I guess it can live in General Discussion.
About ten minutes ago, I checked Instagram and saw that Halo: Fireteam Raven is coming out this summer! I did not see a definite date, but we know that it is “a new co-op arcade shooting game.” I’m not entirely sure what this means; I’m guessing that this will be something like the Halo: Spartan series with the top-down stuff.
Anyway, the main characters are the members of Fireteam Raven, and the game will be set during the events of Halo: Combat Evolved… on the Halo ring! Yes, a whole squad of drop pods will be dropped onto a Halo ring, something which we know will give us Halo 2 nostalgia. Also, these are ODSTs… classic Halo anyone?
I don’t know, we haven’t seen a Halo game since Halo, and we have seen a classic Halo shooter since 2009. I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t care that this isn’t an FPS. I’m hyped!
Of course, this is no Halo 6, which may be disappointing. This is where I get into what this game means. Between Halo Wars 2 and Halo: Fireteam Raven, we have been receiving the message that 343 Industries cares about the old art style, and they care about their older fans. They are acknowledging that keeping the old fans is more important than attracting new ones, so we have hope for the future games.
What else does this mean? This means that Halo 6 is likely to come out very soon. Think about it for a moment. Halo: Spartan Assault preceded MCC, and then Halo: Spartan Strike preceded Halo 5. Now, we have another arcade shooter, and I think this is to get us hyped for the next main installment in the Halo franchise.
What do you think? I am posting this partially as a messenger but also to deliver my interpretation of the game. Maybe I’m trying too hard to read between the lines of a simple announcement, but intentionally or not, I think we can learn something from this new and welcome addition to the Halo franchise.
