Halo Film

Anyone remember when this came out and the hype was insane for a Halo Movie.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyOAdrxlPVs&t=265s

So close to being made yet so far… Any of you guys wish it was still made?

The script is online and available to read here:

The sections I’ve read, it would’ve been an awesome film (as long as they cast it right and Voice the MC with the original voice actor). With WETA doing the post production and the gritty style to it from Blomkamp, it would’ve been a sure hit in the box office.

Are there any more rumour’s as to whether this will ever happen again? Halo is a game that deserves a film franchise to be made around it, there’s so much potential!

Yes, Halo movie is a good idea, but it would best be made in the style of something other than action camerashooting.

A movie would be nice but only if done right, I just don’t want a repeat of what happened with the Doom movie to happen to the Halo movie. I think for now the closest we’re going to get to a live action Halo is the TV series but not much is known about it. Kind of surprised there still working on it.

A halo film would be great! (at least to me)

IF Halo universe lore is so attractive and the games are becoming too niche or too fragmented pieces for majority of people to grab the essential stuff, a movie could do the job as a form of summary, bringing in also some new audience to the franchise. There are people who are anyway uninterested in becoming gamers, but still, they would know something like Halo is around and has been for a while if to dig deeper.

There was a window for it,but that time has long passed and I don’t see it happening

If this is going to be another “serious movie” with “serious actors” and “very serious plot”, I see it a big fail.

Completely agree, casting would need to be perfect. I’m unsure as to why they cast a different voice actor for cheif in Forward unto Dawn - that guy just didnt have the same impact as Steve Downes.

Here’s hoping the TV series is a hit, and 343 /microsoft will start thinking about it again. Speilberg is a halo fan, so hopefully he does it justice!

The Halo TV series was announced 4 years ago and hasn’t been spoken about since apart form “We’re working on it”. Don’t get hyped for it. A movie, especially a Hollywood one would be an interesting challenge which I imagine would be very hard to pull off. A sci-fi action movie right now has a lot of competition and since video-game movies have the reputation that they have… Let’s just say I’m not hopeful for a movie releasing anytime soon.

But, Microsoft are working on a Gears movie as well as a Minecraft Movie. If these somehow manage to succeed I wouldn’t be surprised if they wanted to throw their primary franchise into the mix. Much like how it has always been for the last decade; a Halo film is possible, plausible, but not likely anytime soon.

Movie or TV series…as long as they don’t hire The Rock then it might be fine, seems like everything he get’s involved with ends turning into comedies including Doom which was supposed to be a horror based game, the Rampage which looks like a straight to dvd.

If there going to do a movie or TV series then I want to see it set on the first Halo ring from Halo CE or maybe Halo Reach so it can people curious about Halsey and her journey with the Chief with the events of Halo CE after, etc…

Completely agree, based on Halo CE i think the film would hold ground. All i hope is if they do (which you should 343 if you’re listening), please make a better suit for the MC than you did for Forward unto Dawn. It looked super cheap and plastic in that and was super hard to take seriously.

That and minimal cheesy lines…and no Rock. Just cast it right.

Somewhere here in the line of reasoning there is a sudden shift that went undetected or it is something I get wrong. Namely, some of us disputants basically agreed the movie should be - okay, lets state it clear - an animated movie of some kind, maybe anime flavoured, at least the way I got it, while you people suddenly talk about Hollywood and casting. Am I mistaken somewhere about it? Start with small steps if you are uncertain. Let yourself evolve rather than jump right into the deepest water, formally. Build some legacy first.

But I noticed that people here around Microsoft tend to get things directly otherwise than indended very often, but who knows, maybe this is the key to success in this place. Unfortunately it refers also to technical help department.

Besides, costwise speaking, taking the undertaking will be a pioneering action and an experiment of a kind with the Halo franchise, classy animated movie gives far better opportunities to depict the Halo universe and deep sci-fi landscapes the way the directors want to, compared to camerashot slash photorealistic engineered one.

Not sure about Forward unto Dawn armour but it does seem ok, I think the whole point of it was to be a low budget cut but not sure. Yes Rock need’s to stay away since too many things he seems to ruin like what he’s doing to the Jumanji reboot.

Castings could do for voice covers, but Microsoft needs to consider how big they want to make such a first installment; to enter with a bang or to simply walk in, making step after step, building the path.

Yes, I do understand you could accuse me of a trick to try to boost my posts score but mind if there are several hours difference between each post and they bite the topic on different angle, I do think it is excused to take each of them as separate voice on the matter.

Doesn’t matter the time difference, please don’t multipost

As if I was having a discussion with anyone else than myself in this place and many other places as well, but allright, forum rules.
