At least for ranked games hope we have the option!!!
I believe there is going to be M+KB only, controller only and mixed playlists or filters. I recall that being mentioned I one of the videos 343 put out. I think it was the one about the PC platform version. Have I misremembered something.
=( mmh I personally prefer not playing against PCs over M+KB & controllers
Halo Infinite will have Ranked Playlists as follows. Controller Input Only, M+KB Only, Cross Input. This was mentioned after the release of the Competitive settings for HCS. Remember that if you plan on competing you will be able to use whatever input you would like, there is no point that you would have to switch your input method in a tournament. Open Brackets in Lan will be on Xbox Series X, and Main Stage and I think B Stage will be on PC.
PC players can play at 240 and now days up 300 FPS and console players are cap at 120 FPS. Is that fair in competitive/ranked games??
Does it really make a difference? At that point it offers marginal comfort at best.
It’s like someone using an Elite/SCUF controller.
Not for casual gaming but marginal differences do have an impact on competitive gaming at high levels. That slight advantage could change the outcome.
I just don’t understand why would 343 would support the concept of one platform having advantage over the other, even if is a slight advantage - it’s still an advantage
I guess this is the new norm when it comes to free to play. Looks like I’m eventually gonna have to buy a PC.
Eh, personally I’d rather they just make it balanced as they can between the two. Halo isn’t a really serious competitive game, it’s too random by nature; it should be treated as a fun social game. I’d rather not slow matchmaking times for something that shouldn’t really matter.
Console players are now forced to play against PCs. Lol.
I’ve been gaming for 20+ years across many different shooters and halo is definitely one of the most competitive games. Specifically, halo 2 and halo 3.
What are you talking about? I don’t.
Good as it is.
I’m talking about having the option
I mean, it doesn’t really matter how long you’ve been playing. Not trying to be rude, but frankly Halo just isn’t. Competitive implies that skillful play is all that matters, and that things like luck and memorization are irrelevant. In a “competitive” game there’d be no situation where someone gets an advantage that they didn’t earn by outskilling someone else, and there’d also be no situation where someone loses a battle except because they failed to outskill their opponent(s). Halo is very much not those things; it has a lot of randomness involved, and plenty of situations where you lose fights and there’s nothing you can do about it. That’s not skill, it’s circumstance. That’s not a bad thing, I like it that way, but no the game is not competitive.
Sounds like you are talking about cod multiplayer & warzone. Where you die even before you can turn round. Now that game is more about positioning and circumstances rather than aiming skills due to the time to kill. What shooters do you consider competitive?
I’ve said it before and I will say it again, ANYONE, AND I MEAN ANYONE, who believes or sadly thinks Halo isn’t competitive or doesn’t have a skill gap can 1v1 me at any time (granted when I’m not working) and I will post the video… better yet I will stream this/these matches just to show everyone you are very wrong. No warming up either, straight into a match. And to cut out the “supposed randomness”, no grenades, no power ups, just you, me, and our battle rifles. Nothing else. You know what, you can actually have the grenades you might need them. You can even pick the map, forgot that little RANDOM part.
Since they used MCC as a testing ground I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t have input-based or system-based options that you can toggle.
Thanks for confirming my point!!
