It’s crazy to see such a small amount of people posting about Halo Xbox One. I understand we have very little to go off of but that didn’t stop the fans before. I remember in the Halo 2, Halo 3, and even to an extent Reach days people were on the forums posting constantly. After the Halo 3 teaser released you were lucky if a minute would go by without someone posting about Halo 3 on Bungies forums. That included the bad hours too like 3-6 AM EST. Peak hours you would be lucky to keep a post on the first page for more than 5-10 minutes without it getting pushed to page 2. With these Halo Xbox One forums you’re lucky if someone posts within a 20 minute period. That alone should show that people are seriously losing interest.
To me it just doesn’t feel like a Halo game is on it’s way. I know this post barely contributes to the actual discussion value of this forum. I just wanted to see if anyone else felt the same way.
Thats why halo needs to adapt to attract more people the halo community is growing up now and we need a new generation of fans to take the mantle of responsibility to look after our treasure and makes sure nothing bad happens to our franchise
I know exactly what you mean. But funnily enough, I was watching a YouTube video for Halo: Escalation, and it got me excited for Halo Xbox one. The story was really good, it gives me hope for the rest of the trilogy. This lack of information and communication for and about Halo 5 is really irritating me. By this time, and a little before, we should be seeing some renders of the enemies in Halo 5, and not story spoiling enemies, just elites, brutes and grunts.
Something to give fans their Halo fix, lets at least see what Halo 5 looks and sounds like, give fans something to nibble on and talk about. It is seriously needed, because apart from Halo escalation, nothing Halo has really got me excited in a while, and for me that is really saddening. I’m a die hard Halo fan, and have more fun playing CoD :L
In Halo 3, I must have played the campaign over 20 times at least, I had so much fun and enjoyment. In Halo 4, I’ve only replayed the camping 3 times, and that was with some friends to help them complete it… I want that Halo 3 feel to return with Halo 5 (not gameplay or looks necessarily, just the joy it brought), give us a game worth remembering and talking about.

Sad but true, the old Halo fan base is ageing. I played Halo CE when I was 7, I’m 18 now and in Uni, I barely have time for Halo, but I still love the story and will buy the games if they’re worth it. But Halo 4 has shaken me quite a bit. And although reading Halo: Escalation has restored some stability, all is not fully stable, we’re all still in the dark on Halo 5, and nothing seems to be happening.
I’ll be honest as well. I’m glad we’re not overly flooded with the same types of threads with it, although it’s close. Also, a Halo game IS on it’s way…oh yeah…
> I’ll be honest as well. I’m glad we’re not overly flooded with the same types of threads with it, although it’s close. Also, a Halo game IS on it’s way…oh yeah…
Don’t get me wrong, nothing was more annoying than repeat threads. It was still nice to know that their was interest in the game. That was even before the games were properly announced. I remember seeing tons of Halo 3 based threads in the Halo 2 forums. Right before Halo 3 was announced their was probably more people talking about Halo 3 on the Halo 2 forums than their are people on the Halo Xbox One forums talking about Halo Xbox One.
Seriously, think of the difference. We’ll be lenient here too. Say someone posts on here every 10 minutes(which certainly isn’t always the case). In that same time period a post about Halo 3 pre-Halo 3 would have already been pushed to the second or third page of the forums. The forums pages could fit 25 posts(same as waypoint if I’m not mistaken). That’s an insane difference from taking 5-10 minutes to hit the second page compared to here where the bottom post on the first page was posted 8 hours ago.
It’s not like people weren’t replying to the posts either. Every post usually had at least a couple reply’s. Some of the posts would get around 50-300 reply’s. And to be fully honest some would recieve over 200-300 posts in a day. This specific Halo Xbox One forum probably never received 300 posts in general in a single day. It’s very apparent that people don’t care about Halo as much as they used to. It actually pains me a lot too because I would rather the Halo community thrive than any other.
The halo fans are the mighty warriors of xbox we fought a difficult war though 2001-2005 we held back the ps2 fanboys long enough for our secret weapon…
Halo 2 we drove the ps2 fanboys back into the darkest depths from wince they came then xbox 360 came and along soon came halo 3 thus was our birthright and it was a time of peace…
then halo reach came the game that came from our beacon of hope for a better future but we felt a change a slight change that made us question our play style but we didn’t care or notice much…
Then our great leader bungie had to go he was no longer needed, so 343 came and brought unsure times…
As xbox 360 was finishing 343 brought a last goodbye to our golden live age but something happened…
Civil war has taking a toll on us brothers and we bearly survived, now ps4 fanboys have risen from the depths stronger now more than ever, we don’t how long we can last but there is hope brother what lies in front of us is our last chance to drive the fanboys finally back and end this war forever…
All 343 asks for is time and time is what they will have, WHOS WITH ME!!
I’ll be fair, I don’t blame the fans if they lost interest since it has been pretty rough since Reach, well it’s kind of hard to tell where the series is going.
All I know is if 343i show us game-play worth getting hyped for then I’m pretty sure the forums will be more alive than it’s been in a long time but if not then it’ll be as it is now. As for now all I can do is just watch Halo follower to check out if there’s any recent news I might have missed, hope 343i know what there doing.
Can you really blame people for losing interest in Halo? While Reach was disappointing to many people, Halo 4 was an outright disaster in the eyes of a great majority of fans. Up until now, whenever a new Halo game was announced, everybody would know that it would be amazing, and you didn’t need to know details about the game to get excited.
But now, with Halo 4 having been a smoldering pile of lies, I can’t blame anybody for being hesitant about the future of the franchise. 343i will really need to prove that they can make a great Halo game before people will even begin thinking about coming back to the franchise. And even then, some people might be gone forever regardless.
Halo dropped incredibly quickly, now it needs to be picked back up.

Pretty much this.
I remember when someone necroposted in an old thread in the Halo 4 forum from January 2012. Everyone was super giddy about Halo 4, even though nothing was really known, and talking about how the game would have -Yoink!- with their Xbox 360s. Honestly, I’m not sure if that’s any worse than what we have being posted now. It’s about as productive and about as likely that 343i will read and take away something from it than anything else.

While good points, difference is back then there was WAY fewer competition games for Halo as well as forums for said games.

This. Glad we filtered out the real fans from the fakes. Halo is not over…it had just 1 bad game… Every multi billion dollar franchise has had one bad failer ex Star Wars.

Funny I wanted to make a post like this, but not it would get locked or something.
Well I agree the Halo hype is pretty much gone. There was a lot of hype even for Halo 4 coming up for launch and a long time before. 343i is going the JJ Abrams route of no info whatsoever. Which really makes things incredibly frustrating. It’s even worse now that what we saw in the teaser isn’t even a concrete event in the game or the other amount of games in the new “saga” (not trilogy).
If 343 would tease us a little more then maybe there would be a little more hype, but as of now we have absolutely nothing. I feel like Halo5Follower has to make up stories to get anything on his channel now.
Without any information on halo 5 all we have to talk about is how bad 4 is or how we should bring classic back. There isn’t much to discuss.
But on my own front i have my fingers in plenty of other franchises. Halo was and will always be my favorite shooter. But i missed out on other great games. I actually really only played shooters till a few years ago. I’m exploring new genres. (TBH while i love halo and many other shooters FPS as a whole has been declining over the last 4-5 years anyway.)
Plus…As a halo 4 advocate it gets tiring typing the same things over and over again only to be told “you’re wrong.” I know competitive people get this flak often as well though at least in my experiences i don’t see it too often. Most of the forum seems to be dominated by people who really just bash on 4. /:
