Halo Fans can't win

Dude, I am so sick of people hating on the current Halo game.
Halo 2 comes out… This game sucks! Halo CE was so much better!
Halo 3 comes out… This game sucks so much! Halo 2 was the best!
Halo 3:ODST comes out… this is a horrible game! Halo 3 was way better!
Halo Reach comes out… this game sucks. I’m never playing Halo again.
Halo 4 is revealed… THis game is gonna suck. Reach is better.

Same crap every year… Never gets old.

Halo 3 did lack in the story department and halo 2 was rushed out the butt. No comment on Reach because it is obvious.

Reach was a good game!

Critical plot issues not to mention it didn’t need to be touched.

> Critical plot issues not to mention it didn’t need to be touched.

But if there was no Reach then how would Bungie make a grab for money before they backed out of the franchise?

Fair point.

Good point.

I don’t have any major problems with Halo 1,2,3.

ODST and Reach on the other hand only existed as a mean to cash-in money quickly.

> Halo Reach comes out… this game sucks. I’m never playing Halo again.

Actually I’m pretty sure it went more like this: This game sucks, Halo 3 was the best!

> Halo 4 is revealed… THis game is gonna suck. Reach is better.

I have NEVER heard that! All I hear is that Halo 4 should be like Halo 3, and not Reach.

Halo 3 was a good game but give it a REST! Jesus Christ. People hated Reach because it was accessible to everyone. But that made everyone a threat didn’t it? If everyone was a threat, then you had to play smart.

Most of the people I know that disliked Reach spent YEARS of their lives perfecting the four shot with the Battle Rifle. When Reach came out, they couldn’t handle it.

Also, if Bungie and 343 start listening to the Halo 3 kids, where will the Halo franchise go? It will turn into another COD, with the same -Yoink- year after year after year.

He’s absolutely right. When Halo 4 comes out the Waypoint forums will be awash with “H4 sucks, Reach was better” threads. It’s guaranteed, some players take a long a time to get used to a game and suddenly it changes and they throw their toys out of the pram.

Those threads aren’t reflective of the general opinion on a game though, its just a certain type of person who creates those threads.

343i seems to want to try to please everyone. But the community is making that very, very hard.

People complain that sprint and “perks” will make the game too unpredictable. But nothing is as unpredictable as the Halo Community.

Edit: Yay me. 1000th post. Confetti

This is why I don’t care for the game sections very much.

I don’t think anyone is going to say Reach is better than anything

You guys think Bungie needed money when they released Reach?

At that point, I imagine them swimming in cash like Scrooge McDuck.

I would say that a large portion of the Halo money went to the IP’s original owner… Microsoft

> Halo 4 is revealed… THis game is gonna suck. Reach is better.

I don’t think I’ll every say Reach is better than Halo 4, since it simply cannot be possible.

I disagree with what you said.
Halo 3 had many annoying features and a boring campaign but it was still a good game. Reach on the other hand… it wasn’t even Halo

Bungie tried many ways to give us things for free. Microsoft is behind the money bidding. ODST wasn’t a cash go getter either. It was bungie’s actual first Halo game and they made it the way they wanted to. I enjoyed it very much.

Would you rather Halo turns into COD and gives us the same thing year after year?

Besides it was still Halo. You had your Spartans, your Elites, your human and covenant weaponry, shielding system, spawn times and what not.

Just because it was different doesn’t mean it wasn’t Halo. That’s like saying an albino snake isn’t a snake because it’s different.

“If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck…well…”

or my favorite:

“The first time someone calls you a horse, you call them a jerk. The second time someone calls you a horse, you punch 'em in the nose but the third time someone calls you a horse…well, maybe it’s time to get a saddle.”

The chap is right though. The first game didn’t even properly “begin”. You were more or less just dropped into the middle of a story. As well as, and I’ve said it numerous times, the campaigns honestly make up “What Halo Is.” It’s what gives the MP any direction and build at all. Otherwise, you’d just be armored soldiers. No more, no less.
Each game gave you proper elements of the UNSC vs the Covenant over a much bigger threat. THAT’S what Halo is.

The MP doesn’t make up the basis of what Halo is simply for the fact that pimply faced Craig Everydork isn’t the face of Halo. There’s no Dave Whodatbe player skin. Furthermore, it’s never helped catapult the series in the campaign. Without the campaign, you’d never have the Halo MP.

A lion and a house cat are still of the feline family. One just happens to be a bigger badass version of the other. Some prefer one over the other in likeable preferences. Doesn’t make the one or other “the better choice”. They both make their high strides in their own fields. Just accept it.
