On June 1st we launched the Halo Evolutions Community Art Contest, asking the Halo community to submit their artistic interpretations of the stories featured in Tor Books’ Halo Evolutions anthology, and today we are proud to announce the winning entries.
Many talented artists submitted their illustrations and nine individuals have had their entries selected for inclusion in a future printing of Halo Evolutions. For the full announcement and to view the winning entries, click the link below to read the story on the Transmissions page…
I love the first one. There’s something raw about it that represents the Halo World - At least for me.
xGLYPHx, I believe it would be awesome if 343 use the winner work for something related to the brand 343. Take for example what Arksys did with the european cover of the Blazblue. They made a contest and the winner saw his work on the cover of the game.
Maybe a cover is too much, but something less important but with great meaning.
Thank you 343i / Waypoint! And congrats to the other artists! All the art in that winners gallery is great. I think it’s especially cool that there was a wide range of styles selected.
I’m pretty excited now, but when that days comes and I pick up my 3rd copy of Evolutions (didn’t know there was a hardcover when I got my first one) and get to see my art in a real, legitimate piece of the Halo story - wow, that might be too much!
[BTW, this is Leviathan / Levi Hoffmeier. Gwath Gil is my archaic gamertag.]
Being chosen is an honor, I cant wait to see my artwork in an official Halo publication. Seeing all of the different styles and locations that the pieces came from is awesome! Thanks Waypoint!

You are more than welcome, Bryn , and congratulations.
I agree, the variety of styles among the chosen submissions is refreshing and makes for an interesting collection of art.
> It’s AMAZING what the halo community does, congratulations to the winners.

> Hey Gliph I haven’t bought the Evolutions Book, If i want those awesome interpretations in the book, should i wait for a reprint?.
It’s totally up to you. The new editions will spread the stories across two books, each with some additional content (including the art from the Evolutions Community Art Contest). The purpose of the new printings is to make the books available at a wider variety of retailers. The split allows for a smaller page count and a lower cover price so places like Target and Wal-mart and the like will stock it in their book sections along with traditional book sellers along the lines of Borders and Barnes and Noble.
