When i hear people say that Halo needs to adapt common mechanics or ‘modernize’ its gameplay, I get annoyed. Simplicity has made Halo unique! I support change, but i think there needs to be a line between a games identity, and its innovation.
I’m interested to hear what you guys have to say about this.
If you were still playing the same game as Halo CE you would not buy Halo 5. They need newer or more exciting things to continue to sell. Otherwise they should just be releasing maps for Halo 3 and leave it there. Maybe update Halo 3 to the newest gen. And just keep making maps.

So because I have a different opinion im “negative?”
In the video I talked about people like you. I compare Halo to religion. Like religion, we all hold different values and beliefs in regards to the direction in which the Halo franchise should proceed in. Not everyone believes In the same thing. Why can’t you respect my opinion?

Just like I laugh at people who say it needs to stay the same. Those same people then go on to bash CoD for being the same game after game. You cannot have it both ways.
What is that? Oh no… It’s a Bdobbins wannabe! Everyone, ignore that video before it destroys your brain cells, effectively reducing your IQ! In any case, no. Just no. Halo has no reason not to evolve, it has nothing to do with staying relevant, it has to do with how a spartan would actually be, not “to follow the footsteps of other games.”

People aren’t going to respect your opinion if you call arguments for the change they want and appreciate “idiotic” as you do several times in the video. I got a few minutes into the video and found it excessively antagonistic for someone who wishes for others to take him seriously.

LOL. I WILL say this: Keeping core movement mechanics does NOT mean the game is exactly the same. Who said Halo 3 was the same as Halo 2? Who said Halo 2 was the same as Halo CE?
CoD has had about 7-8 games that keep the core mechanics and feel of CoD, and it’s still the top FPS on consoles. You’re telling me Halo’s mechanics got old after 3 games?
At the end of the day all things must change in order to keep up with the rapidly changing world of gaming. I’m not saying that i don’t love the old games, because I truly do. However The argument the “Halo should stay the same” does not work. If the game didn’t change, people would be complaining about how Halo doesn’t innovate enough. Regardless of their actions 343 will continue to get hate from some of their consumers.
At the end of the day no matter what happens, people will find a reason to be mad. Change is generally a good thing. Halo becoming a more fast paced and action packed shooter may seem bad to you, but it appeals to alot of other consumers. Primarily the crowd 343 should be focused on. The newer generation of gamers. Games do need to change in order to gain the favor of those who have become used to the new faster pace of games like Titanfall, CoD AW, and others. If Halo didn’t make the changes it has, people would argue that it is too slow or boring.
I realize that is just my thoughts on it and you are entitled to your own. I for one am happy to see halo making strides towards competing with other major IP’s within the genre.
I feel the same with Counter-Strike. Both Halo and CS have their own unique formula and it may not be “modern” but in my humble opinion, it’s superior.

Sales says otherwise.
They upped the top base movement speed and lowered the max sprint speed. Its more physiological. Gamers expect things in games now. If you can’t get over the fact that they did something you didn’t want them to do then clearly you shouldn’t play the game.

Advanced Warfare introduced movement mechanics that weren’t present in previous CoDs (and in my opinion is a notably better game than the three or four CoDs that preceded it).
By extension, it can be argued that Halo 5 also keeps the core mechanics and feel of Halo, despite the added features.

So because I say idiotic twice, you can’t respect my opinion lol? You act as if I was calling the people who thought that way idiotic. I think your taking two small words from the video and blowing it out of proportion.
My standing rebuttal to this pervasive sentiment is that Classic Halo could still move mountains and eclipse the sun then why didn’t the HMCC Sell 10 million copies at the very moment of it’s launch along with millions of Xbox Ones. I have listened to years of people droning on about wanting to play HCE or replay H2 online and guess what happened the HMCC had unremarkable level of preorders with no midnight launch parties anywhere. I remember H2 preoders halting 3 months before launch. Sure you are going to argue that the HMCC was and still is broken which caused it to under preform, but that’s not what I’m trying to get at which is that the HMCC launched with a whimper not a roar of fans charging headlong into every outlet to preorder and buy it on day one.
Halo doesn’t need to reinvent itself every time. However, but it does need to have enough new content and features each installment to justify charging people full retail price for a game. If each new game was nothing but additional maps with the same old multiplayer, people wouldn’t justify paying $60 for what should have been a $15 DLC.
