Halo Destiny's Child

So here’s an idea… To make the game have longer legs, an expansion pack! It would be similar to Spartan Ops, but with a lot more influences from Destiny. The Infinity as the Social Space, your Spartans are highly customizable “Guardians”, you go on different missions given to you from Captain Lasky, Palmer, Roland, etc… You wouldn’t really need to have the open world aspect, just each mission is a 30 minute or so handcrafted campaign mission essentially, with the possibility of longer raids with a Spartan team of 8 instead of 4. The repetitive nature of Spartan Ops wouldn’t be a problem if you can implement a loot cycle like Destiny, and you can ramp up the difficulty of the missions for better rewards. You can even tie in REQ packs and commendations could be like “bounties” where you get rewards to buy more REQ packs. Obviously, only cosmetics would carry over into Arena, and Warzone would still need to have in match unlocks, but on the Ops missions you could always have your -Yoink- gun or be grinding to get one. You could even customize your quarters on the infinity. You could tell a great story like Spartan Ops except even better because we would feel invested playing the story with our own Spartans interacting with Palmer and Lasky etc. This new mode along with Arena and Warzone would be a great complete package that adds an addicting gameplay loop and probably draw a lot of Desitny players back. And if it’s full featured enough with substantial content, you could even charge $30 for it as an expansion. Obviously don’t want it to be too much like Destiny but the core gameplay loop is an interesting idea for Halo.
Thoughts?

EDIT:
I think a lot of people are misunderstanding my post and assuming that the Halo we all know and love should be entirely replaced by a Destiny clone. That is false and is that last thing I would want to happen. I could have worded it more clearly, but essentially what I think would be interesting is if they brought back Spartan Ops with better mission design, a great story, more interaction with the crew of the Infinity through gameplay, a ton of customization, and a tie in with the REQ system to make replaying missions more rewarding. Even possibly the ability to create Spartan Ops missions with Forge. Yes some of these things have characteristics in common with Destiny, but that’s ok, games have been taking the best features from each other and making them better for years. And I suggested that it could be priced as an add-on seeing as they are already giving us all the new multiplayer maps for free, but only if it was a substantial amount of content deserving of an additional cost. Obviously it would be better if it was free but if they feel they couldn’t do it without charging for it, that would be ok IN MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION. Also, this would only be an optional addition to the game that no one would be forced to play, and all existing game modes would still be there and heavily supported. So hopefully this clears up what my original point was.

Can’t tell if serious?

Sounds interesting but huge legal issues. I’m sure Bungie would not like it one bit taking ideas off of Destiny. But it would be a huge slap in Bungie’s face for being dumb and dropping Halo.

But yeah this is a really good idea and I agree on the price. Just that wouldn’t come in till next year if it were a thing. Like I said above though, legal issues so it would be a variation of what you described but probably not as good.

Why? They are two different games.

Yes? If you like Halo fiction, liked Spartan Ops, and want a larger community to play Halo 5 longer, I mean I would play it.

^^^^ what he said, Destiny isn’t that great of a game.

No

They should tailor it to Halo with their own take on it, but they kind of did what Destiny is doing before Destiny did it with Spartan Ops, just without the loot grind. It would basically just be an improved Spartan Ops with loot “REQs” so you can replay it over and over again a la Destiny

Also if you’re like me and don’t want to wait 3 years for new story then this would be a good way to bridge the gap.

I really like this idea overall but not necessarily taking so many ideas from Destiny. Using the Infinity as a Social Space is a really cool idea as well as being sent on missions from Palmer and/or Lasky. This could be something really interesting for possible future Spartan Ops ideas. Like maybe not even be a part of Halo 5 but be its own separate thing like that Halo Online they’re working on for pc.

I don’t think we’re ready for this jelly

You’re on the right track.

Ummm what did I just read?

that’s the dumbest thing I have heard all year…

It’s too bootylicious for us baby.

aaaaaaa next.

Yes and no.

It definitely should not borrow so heavily from destiny.

… but will we have Gjallahorn?

I think basically these are just some ideas to improve Spartan Ops, because I liked to what they were trying to do. With this, they can keep the story elements, create better gameplay spaces, and introduce a loot factor for replayability, which is similar to what they’re already doing with REQs. In terms of something like using a map to jet off to other parts of the galaxy, yeah that might be too much, but for the crowd that likes co-operative single player experiences like Spartan Ops, and yes, even Destiny, this could be something interesting.

Probably no Gjally, but I say yes to the SPNKR lol
But yes I agree on not too much Destiny, I just think there are some interesting gameplay ideas that could be adapted well into the Halo Universe.
I mean just think if everyone had their own dinklebot… I mean AI haha
