Halo Custom Edition

The Halo CE (Custom Edition) game is a free stand-alone program for registered users of the Halo PC game. It was developed by Gearbox Software the company that developed the Halo PC retail version of the game. You can obtain the Halo CE (Custom Edition) game and custom maps from http://www.halomaps.org. The Halo CE game is designed to use custom content. The editing kit allows you to create custom maps.

In order to install the Halo CE (Custom Edition) game you MUST own a copy of the Halo PC Retail version of the game and have the CD Product Key number which is printed on the yellow sticker labeled “Product Key”. If you do not have the correct Halo PC CD Key you will not be able to install or run the game. Installing the Halo CE game will not affect or change your Halo PC Game they can both run on the same computer.

The Halo Custom Edition game provided by Gearbox Software LLC (“Gearbox”) is UNSUPPORTED and provided solely for use with the Microsoft® Halo® software game for the personal computer.

After installing the Halo Custom Edition game, if you wish to join a server running a custom map you must first have the map that the server is running already installed. You may obtain the user created custom maps at the Halo Custom Edition section of the HaloMaps.org website

Good thread mate; let’s hope people read this before posting the same question we saw the other day.

In this generation, you should have realized already that you do not need a copy of retail game Halo PC in order to play Halo Custom Edition.

Since this is public knowledge: Anyone that goes to google to find a “Crack” installer will bypass that “required product key” and will allow them to play the game.

I understand your trying to advertise more people to buy the game CD but let’s face it, you have to know your audience a little better than that!

It should also be public knowledge that using a crack or keygen of any kind is a direct violation of the copyright. In essence it is software piracy which is theft and no different than stealing a CD from a department store.

The Halo Maps website will not host, not allow or condone any file or information that is in conflict with the copyright or EULA (end user license agreement). I can not say this more simply: Using a “crack” or “keygen” is software piracy which is theft.
