Which one was the best and worst?
Halo 4’s felt appropriate to the game with the MC standing on one knee like he just woke up (which he technically did) or just recently crashed upon a new world that begins a new story in his life (which also happened too). It’s a cover that also reflects how our hero is vastly different in design since his last appearance, and does so without tarnishing the original trilogy/appearance.
Halo Anniversary, in stark contrast, doesn’t really convey any purposeful meaning or insight to what will be presented (unless I’m missing something). If anything, this cover reminds me of the kinds of posters you see for generic action movies/video games where protagonists just have a gun in their hand and are aiming at something offscreen. It doesn’t help that the MC is almost all black when the game isn’t really dark in nature, and is actually one of the most beautiful looking Halo games we’ve ever seen.
I really love Halo 2’s cover art! Master Chief looks awesome in it. My least favorite cover art would be…well I don’t really know. I really like Halo CEA’s cover art, I enjoy all of them! Can’t pick a worst, sorry!
I like them all and coincidentally I have the HCEA poster on my wall.
Tough choices. I’d probably go with reach though. You got the entire noble team with a storm going on in the sky, with a covenant cruiser peaking out of the clouds in the background. You just know stuffs ganna go down. My least favorite would be the mcc or cea. The all black just seems pretty lame, and not fitting for the beautiful halo universe.
MCC for the worst, definitely. Master Chief head floating in the middle? Come on now.
I love Halo 5’s. Even if it’s not what the game is actually about, it looks sweet and is all detailed and renderedy. The Guardian in the middle is sweet too.
My favourite is probably Halo Wars 1’s. I mean come on, three Spartan-II’s leading the march of a UNSC army? That is bad. -Yoink-!
As for the worst, I’d probably say the Master Chief Collection. Not because it’s bad, but just because it doesn’t actually convey anything. Every other cover showed us a little something. Halo CE/CEA: Master Chief in action. Halo 2: Master Chief looking cool af. Halo 3: Master Chief to the backdrop of a destroyed Africa. ODST: a lone ODST in the dark and rain. Reach: NOBLE Team with a lightening storm/covy cruiser in the background. Halo Wars 2: Atriox and the silhouette of the Ark. Halo 5: The head-to-head of Locke and Chief (not accurate, but looks cool).
My favorite cover is for Halo 4 and Halo 2. I don’t like the Halo 5 cover art, maybe because it has nothing to do with the game and it’s not “WOW” like the ones I like.
