This shows how the competitive community has accepted the changes, I consider myself a competitive player. They are seeing the bright side of things, like we all should.
Never really cared about what THC thought. But its good to know some stubborn minded individuals can change.
A+ for solid argument.
I’m sure there are a lot of people who will continue to be skeptical, but I for one agree with pretty much every point they brought up. It’s good to see competitive gamers on the other side of the coin.
I could care less about whether or not thy approve of it. My opinion of the game matters to me, person A’s opinion matters to person A. Just because Halo Council “approves”, doesn’t mean that the angry “competitive” players will instantly be happy. I prefer that everyone play the game before they decide whether or not its a good game or not.
I like that for once someone in the competitive community except me is actually telling people that casual is what make the game and the competitive growth and not the other way around like so many people like to think.
They try to get halo 4 out there, they are like a mini advetising group focused on the competitive side but also caters to the casuals. You should care what they say, some of these guys sit with 343i members and talked about changes with the game, some of them in the council have played halo 4 two months ago and discuss with 343i what they think.
Their argument definitely got me thinking about my play time at Eurogamer Expo. The notifications really aren’t noticeable while you’re playing if you already know how to play Halo, so it’s good to see others seeing it in the same light.
Well the competitive community will never have a problem adapting to changes. I don’t want to be blunt or to generalize but most members of the competitive scene have been playing Halo and shooters in general for years. They can change to new play styles fluently and in most cases excel.
Accepting changes isn’t anything new but that scene is not scared of having their opinions heard regarding such changes.

MLG also got to play early. And i still don’t care. To be honest the only peoples opinions i care about are mine and my friends and 343I’s. I come to the forums to learn about the game and to have debates as i love to debate. But THC and MLG are people. Just as us normal community members are. Their opinion shouldn’t be valued more then anyone else who plays halo just because they are “famous.” I don’t hate MLG or THC. I’m glad competitive gaming exists. I just find it asinine that some people actually value their opinions more just because they are well known. Their are plenty of unknown people in halo that do amazing that just haven’t been found and brought to light.
Anyway to some it up THC and MLG opinions arn’t in 343I’s eyes anymore importent then the rest of their fanbase. I’m not going to care what they have to say because they just people like me.
Huh? that’s definitely a different way to look at it. I was always neutral about the flag changes, but I can see what they’re saying there.

Yes. Completely agreed and couldn’t of put it better good sir.

Halo council is made up mostly of MLG players. 343I knows these are players that have been playing halo for 7,8 or 9 years and have good knowledge of the game and have introduced many new players to the halo universe and thats why 343i chose them to play the game early and give their opinions on it. The halo council has many followers and they has exclusive interviews with members of 343i that don’t get posted anywhere else, not here, not ign nowhere but their channel. Their opinion is a bit more valid than mine knowing they been inside 343i and have given their opinion, me and you don’t have that chance. I don’t mean to kiss there butt, im simply saying their opinions and news are quite important and happening.

I have been playing halo since halo CE came out. Does that mean my opinion weighs more? No. The only thing “early play” grants them is knowledge that normal players don’t have. But that doesn’t mean their opinion is any righter then mine. If you follow and care about what THC has to say then im happy for you. But i’m not going to praise a strangers opinion simply because they had early access or because they professional game etc.
So when THC praises Halo 4 and approves of some of the changes, it’s a great thing! But when people on Waypoint do it, they’re blind fanboys?
How does that work, exactly?

Carefully.
Their opinion is irrelevant. Have I played Halo 4? No, do I think that having the Flag carrier on display is stupid yes because not knowing where that flag carrier is is what makes a game winable if the enemy team knows where you are they will destroy you, now it seems like there will be even more stalemates in CTF.

Apparently so.

Becuase that means we should nothing to worry about, if the MLG community is okay with this then this puts some of the competitive arguments to rest.
How does it work? It just does, Accepting something here means you stopped arguing becuase mods will ban you for “flamming” or you are tired of hearing people say “adapt.” They actually provided very good solid opinions as to why it is okay in a competitive sense and thats why it changed the way i see some thing. I don’t accept everything they say but when someone provides solid thoughout reasons it really gets you thinking about it more.

This is what I meant! So just because THC says its okay, I should be “Oh, they say its okay, that must mean it will be great!” Thats blindly following something right there!

It’s a strange world we live in…
