As they should be, this store DID NOT belong in Halo and they decided to be greedy and do it anyhow. Imagine having all the MCC customization at launch for this game, Yeah imagine… I hope the community buries them for their betrayal.
i don’t know if it’s satire or not, but i don’t even play infinite. i am happy with the mcc. armor or whatever should not have to cost real money… it’s laughable to me.
that this is currently their biggest priority, to sort out a price they can get away with just goes to show the love for the actual game is not there. it will never be like the good ol’ days again. it went downhill since Reach and has kept doing so.
i am just grateful they did release the mcc to pc. that i still love to play, mainly halo 3 and reach.
infinite though? it’s such an utter borefest to me, sadly. i had really hoped things would turn around from the announcement reveal…
oh well.
Yah the days of them releasing a good finished product is over. We even had to fight and wait for MCC to get where it is but I’m also glad we got this far. I cannot believe they backtracked so much just to push these other things for the series… not worth it, and if it ever is it will be too little too late.
I hope you realize they are taking what used to be bundles, and selling each item individually which will increase the cost in the long term.
$7 for a helmet alone. Next week will prbably be a chest for $7. Then legs. Then gloves. Then a visor. Then the effect. Bringing up the total to almost double the price of what it would cost as a bundle.
Its a trick. Its all a trick.
Wait, are you saying that players and consumers are more stupid and gullible than they used to be? Are you saying that these same pushover toxic positive people are the fault 343 has been allowed to push the series this far into the sewers? How dare you speak such truth!
It’s because 343 is the slowest AAA studio at fixing issues, look how many years it took for MCC to be in a playable state. Everyone’s getting sick and tired of their mistakes and their excuses. Also why do we have to wait 6 months after release to get a second season, how could it possibly take that long to add co-op to this game and I bet we don’t even get any new maps to go along with it just the season 2 rewards.
And cat ears on every helmet right? If have bought them in a heart beat if I could wear them on my MK V.
Maybe you should buy “Yui - Spec Ops: Cat” instead of cat ears.
Even if 343i would release a 60$ offer to unlock unlimited customisation, I still wouldnt buy it, because the actual state of the game is so bad, that investing in customisation wouldnt be worthwile for me.
No. F2P is trash and all micro transactions are unethical and immoral.
TLDR; your opinion is both reductive and lacks understanding of industry economics. And only serves to help ruin gaming for the gamers (consumers) which includes you. This conversation is waste of my time that’s for sure.
You don’t have a good understanding of how pricing and inflation works industry to industry. The pricing of food products, housing, cars, college etc. have a large number of variables and unique externalities unique to each industry. Your simple view of “prices have gone up over time” completely lacks any nuance or understanding of how those industries work or why their pricing has changed. It is never solely as simple as prices go up over time.
So let’s take your bread (food) example. Food costs depending on the type of food are heavily subsidized or regulated by the government. The supply chain and your literal geographical location would be the greatest factor in cost at the supermarket. We have not had any recent major famines in the West causing true food shortages or anything like that.
Then there is housing and my 2 additional examples cars, and college tuition. Without making this even more excessively long, all three of these things are priced way above where they should be based on normal inflation. Their prices are unreasonably too high already.
The point is, you can’t just handwave many things have gone up in price so so should gaming when many industries are not fundamentally comparable.
$60 full priced games with no Micro transactions is absolutely still viable. Look at basically every Sony first party game. All of their big hits are financial successes and are AAA polished experiences that most certainly had large budgets. These games would not be $200 today that is just ludicrous, because guess what? God of war 4 was not $200. Nor would that even remotely be a reasonable price.
Gaming absolutely does not require them. And studios and publishers do not need them to make a profit. All they need to do is hit the right sales numbers that’s it.
The fact you would even defend the F2P model and micro transactions only serves against your interests as a gamer as well. All F2P experiences are subpar from a full game release and halo infinite is embarrassingly finite in content.
In the longer run base prices could reasonably go up, and frankly that is absolutely preferable to micro transactions. But $70 price tag is not reasonable right now.
Wow wonderfully put and you couldn’t had replied to someone better to make it even more blissful. I literally have friends who defend F2P because of their own selfish intent. Their motto is “It’s free so you can’t complain” “They gave me a free game, they deserve time” Etc… Like that is supposed to mean something? Like that is MY FAULT? Amazing that individuals either don’t see or do see and choose to support this half -Yoink!- development and greedy approach to game development and management. Thank you for that post.
Exactly. 343 decided to make it F2P because they knew that MTX can be nearly cost less and low effort profit.
Making halo F2P was NEVER a necessity and literally not one halo that came before failed to make a profit on sales alone.
Hell cypherpunk one year ago made a profit on preorders before it even released.
I feel bad for those that defend these indefensible practices like your friends that you mentioned. It only serves to hurt their own end user experience.
It’s not like they get a cut of the MTX profits lol.
Late to the discussion but to address the original post, 6 years of anticipation will do that to a community when the product in its current form is what they get for their patience.
Both of you are kind of missing the point. Inflation alone the price probably would’ve increased yes, but that’s not really core reason why the cost of game design has gone up.
Game dev companies have hundreds upon hundreds of employees nowadays, compared to many years ago where like 2 people could easily make a top selling triple A game lol. Take for example Halo 2, it had about 40 devs to my knowledge, Halo Infinite had what? like 300 at least? So you have far more developers needed to churn out games and content then even a decade or so ago.
Why? Because the graphics and higher fidelity mainly, but just in general one certainly argue that games are much more complicated now than they were 10-15 years ago.
The F2P model is basically just a subscription model where the top 5-10 percent net them almost all of their profit over the span of months/years. One could argue its basically trickle down economics in principle lol. Now you can certainly argue that its bad for Halo, but its not anything special.
Mark V Zeta for the Mark VII Armor Core is coming out with the Tactical-Ops Event.
Yes Free to Play is trash unless it is a small-time studio like the guys who made Splitgate.
The irony is palpable here.
I am studying MicroEconomics, MacroEconomics, Business Finance, and Accounting.
My GPA is currently 3.6
No there are also 10s of millions more people playing games than in 2004.
There’s a reason Sony games have big budgets no MTX and make a profit at $60.
They make great games. They are literal proof it is still viable.
Cyberpunk as another example a year ago made a profit just in preorders.
The economics of games does not justify MTX or raising base prices.
Sure and you have a lot more to learn kid.
I went to business school too once upon a time.
I highly doubt that kiddo.
Oh I sure did but I’ve never once felt the need to drop my GPA and course list to make myself sound competent in a halo forum.
I wonder how high you think your IQ is and if you go around dropping that too lmao
I bring up why games these days need higher profits, you bring up Cyberpunk…
Nice try dude.
