I was really disappointed when I heard that the community survey (which 343 plan to use as feedback to better develop their games), was restricted only to residents of the United States, and the United Kingdom. I am a Canadian citizen, and would consider myself a huge fan of the franchise, considering I have poured a ton of my personal money into the various products that have come out of the whole halo universe (games, novels, soundtracks, action figures, dvd’s, everything!)
When I read that only the US and UK could fill out their surveys, to me that said something along the lines of:
“Here at 343, we’re too good for everyone else. We will choose our customers, and we only want customers from 'Murica and Ohhhh… Britain, because the British are HILARIOUS” … Or something like that.
Does anyone know why it was restricted to those countries?
With a move like this (restricting the survey to a certain group), I honestly don’t feel like supporting a company which doesn’t care about it’s biggest customers. (There are more reliable statistics to seeing where your fan-base is located, than to just look at the number of purchases. Obviously UK and US are going to have more customers than places like Canada, because they have >10x the total population…)
Canadian opinions don’t matter…
There were legal reasons for not having the program rolled out to everyone. They put it to the US first of all and then expanded to Europe, so I imagine as they clear up any further issues they will get it released to other countries as well.

You must be american. That’s a typical American attitude: “We’re better than everyone else, and no-one else matters”
That’ a pretty terrible political philosophy to be using. Where would the United States be without other countries? OH it wouldn’t exist, because the United States was colonized by other countries… The best designed products incorporate the most number of approaches/viewpoints on the issue at hand; in this case that would be production of a more entertaining video game.
But thank you for the reminder that 343 is an american company, I can now begin to understand why they restricted the survey. Because I suppose I should only expect this same American attitude coming out an American Company… This “attitude”/“philosophy” is essentially now built into the country’s whole governmental system. ***Siggggghhh… Americans.

It was a joke…

That makes total sense!
I definitely would not have guessed it was for legal reasons. But ya, I guess I have heard of various governmental laws stipulating legal control of online communications. And Canadian laws are quite serious about this topic, as I have been hearing on the news.
I suppose I can retract my ‘hate-on’ statements for 343. I wanted to believe they weren’t total jerks, but just couldn’t fully understand. Hope for the community = restored.
Thanks a lot!

Errr… sorry then. Sarcasm is hard to understand through written words. But I still do sigh at 21st century American politics…

Canadians never did understand satire…
