I have been playing halo for i dont know how long. I really started playing halo online at the launch of halo 3. I dont believe there has been such a religious launch for the xbox. Halo 3 was everywhere, you couldnt go 30 minutes on the tv without seeing the halo 3 trailer without the classic halo theme music.
My main point here is gonna be a long rant. How does the Halo 5 community feel to y’all, compared to Halo 3? To me i just feel that there will never be such a great community as there was in Halo 3. I mean everyone played it. With these past installment of the halo franchise(halo 4 and 5) I have that feeling that 343 just doesnt grasp the idea of what the halo community means to the game. When i played Halo 3 you could tell who was the super stars of the game. What i mean by that is, when you took a glimpse at their file share you knew what kind of player they were. If you wanted to get in one of those awesome infection type gamemodes(duck hunt, halo ring, etc.) all you had to do was read you messages or send a message or two, and from there on out you had a lobby of people sharing game modes and maps and having fun. Now in halo reach i thoroughly enjoyed, not the same atmosphere, but it was equally as great as the community goes, great forge = great custom games. On the other hand you have Halo 4, now i did the campaign co-op thought it was great different twist than usually, but the multiplayer oh god. You talk about halo being something else entirely. My friends and I went to forge mode right after we beat the campaign only to find out that you could probably put down 6 crates a couple of grav lifts and well thats about it. I didnt stick around to see if they added on and well i dont care if they ever did. 343 cant pull that crap after reach’s forge(and i didnt stick to the multiplayer that long either). Halo 5 is a start in a new direction, the feel, the music(oh yeah halo 4s music was just god awful), the gameplay. Its pretty awesome till you get to the part where my roommate and i are sitting down passing the controller online and cant even play campaign together. so I said “oh well it looks pretty freaking awesome, multiplayer is good except i only enjoy maybe 2/8 game modes(wtf 343, and you make shotty snipers a weekend playlist???), lets check out forge.” I thought i just was in the wrong menu. i spent almost 30 minutes going through the whole menu trying to find forge and it wasnt there. How is 343 expect for a community to build if it doesnt have forge until december. By then games like battlefield and cod are gonna take away players. 343 it isnt the freaking shoot em up awesome liquid graphics of bullets ripping through the air and people hulk smashing the ground that keeps people playing halo(well maybe a little) but the freaking community. HOLY CRAP how hard is it to realize why over 80% of the halo 4 players left after a couple of months. oh yea thats because there was no community.
Well im done with my rant. Just curious if anyone else feels the same or differs from my opinions. I just think the days of a halo community are gone and dead with halo 3/halo reach.
