Whats your opinion on the Halo combat evolved port on the PC?
It’s alot of fun though I’m not sure how the online play is anymore. I had thought it was disconnected but I could be wrong. Playing the PC maps on MCC is the best though. An 8v8 Big Team Battle on Gephyrophobia is an absolute blast!
It’s an okay port. I would only get it if you’re interested in speedrunning, Halo: Custom Edition, or SPV3. Otherwise, stick to the console versions.
Halo PC is an amazing game and the first ever online Halo game (2003 vs Halo 2 on Xbox). However, the game had a few issues though thankfully, alot could be user fixed. Oddly some graphics settings are missing from the Xbox version if you use an NVIDIA graphics card but they can be added back in via the control panel and other tweaks.
The online multiplayer is still active, saved by Bungie themselves with help from other users such as Btc(i forget the last few numbers, sorry if you read this!) even after 343 took over for Halo so it is the last officially supported Halo game and yes, the servers are ran by Bungie too apparently.
But Custom Edition, the free add on for Halo PC really makes the game shine, the wealth of mods that the community made is phenominal and they even managed ti make it so you don’t have to lead your shots (something that is implemented in the last patch by Bungie).
of you can get a hold of Halo PC, it remains a fantastic way to experience the original game. Both versions have their benefits and I love both of them.
